Foreign relations of Pakistan (Pak) with the United State of America (US) have a very long history of Ups and Downs and remain central to the politics of Pakistan. Pak-US relations also remain part of political and public discourse during elections and during the tenures of different political parties in the Government. Political parties in power or in the opposition are discussed with reference to their approach to foreign policy towards the US. The current study aims at examining how Pak-USA Relations were seen through the lens of media coverage, during PTI Government, taking into account the issues of Military Cooperation; Afghanistan Situation; Regional Disputes; War on Terror; and CPEC. The study is based on the news coverage of Pak-US relations in primetime TV news bulletins of two eminent Pakistani news channels GEO and ARY. The Descriptive Content Analysis method is used as a tool of analysis. Data was collected by watching the news bulletin of GEO and ARY news from August 18th, 2018 to January 18th, 2018. Agenda Setting and Framing approaches have been employed to analyze the news bulletins. All hypotheses are proven statistically by using the “t” test. The finding of this study is that both news channels Geo and ARY give positive coverage related to Pak-USA relations. These news channels have almost the same frames used regarding Pakistan and USA relationships in their 9 pm news bulletin headlines. In these frames, GEO and ARY news channels show that the relationships between Pakistan and the USA were very good during PTI’s regime. Social media provide a platform for discussion on various issues that often gets ignored in our day-to-day life. In order to keep ourselves connected with the entire world and remain updated about what all is taking place or happening around us, youth is mostly inclined towards using social media for information. It has been seen utilization of social media is becoming more and more effective to mold opinion and in changing their mind-set of the youth. The usage of social media among youth in Punjab, Pakistan offers ample opportunity for evaluation. To investigate the impact of social media usage on educational learning, social behavior, and political awareness among the youth in Punjab, a research study was carried out. The study employed a survey research design, and data was collected through the use of questionnaires.
Drone attacks inside Pakistan remained the core issue in international relations and communication scholarship. This study aims to investigate the editorial treatment of US drone attacks inside Pakistan. The researcher has employed a content analysis method to examine the frequency and themes within the editorial published by The Nation and Daily Times from February 18th 2008 to February 28th 2011. The study found that Daily Times supports the Pakistani government stance on US drone attacks inside Pakistan and The Nation as opponent to the government regarding US drone attacks inside Pakistan. The findings imply that media in Pakistan is presenting diverse and pluralistic voices on political issues specifically on an international issue of drone attacks. In this way, its role in public opinion formations cannot be under estimated in the working democracy of Pakistan.
This research study assesses the significance of music as a cultural component of society. Coke Studio in Pakistan is producing and releases music that has traditional and modern appeals for people of all ages. The study implies the theory of cultivation and musical communication as a conceptual framework to analyze the role of Coke Studio Music in trans-culturalism. The methodology of research is based on data collection through a cross-sectional survey employing a structured questionnaire. Data from the university students was collected through random sampling technique. The results show that Coke Studio is introducing genres with ancient roots. It is presenting classical and historic traditions through a transfusion of modern elements which is appealing to youth. Respondents are said to believe that Coke Studio is producing new sounds and enriching Pakistani traditional music by merging it with modern music, including eastern classical, Folk, Qawwalii, Bhangra, Sufi, contemporary Hip Pop, Rock and Pop music. Purpose: There is a wide scope to assess the effect of social media usage among youth in Punjab, Pakistan. This research work was conducted to check the intensity of usage of social media in Punjab and its effects on educational learning, social behavior and political awareness in youth. Methodology: Survey research was conducted and data related to the study was collected through the questionnaire. Findings: Results shows extensive use of social media declined the socialization among people, specifically youth, although, it increases the convenience and saved a lot of time. Implications: Study is useful for the policy makers and government to check positive effect of social media on youth and how to overcome the negative impact.
