Gadolinium deposition may occur within the human brain after multiple gadolinium contrast administrations. Increasing T1W signal intensity occurs within the dentate nucleus and globus pallidus. Increasing signal intensity may be a consequence of multiple administrations of gadobutrol. Administration of gadobutrol over a shorter period causes greater signal intensity increase.

Highlights RRMS patients had different degrees of fear of COVID-19 disease. Levels of anxiety are higher among RRMS patients during the COVID-19 outbreak then in regular circumstances. Depression and higher disability are independent risk factors for lower QoL of RRMS patients. Healthcare organizations must provide professional therapeutic advice and psychosocial support for RRMS patients during pandemic.

Cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leucoencephalopathy (CADASIL) is an autosomal dominant vascular disorder. Diagnosis and follow-up in patients with CADASIL are based mainly on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRI shows white matter hyperintensities (WMHs), lacunar infarcts and cerebral microbleeds (CMBs). WMHs lesions tend to be symmetrical and bilateral, distributed in the periventricular and deep white matter. The anterior temporal lobe and external capsules are predilection sites for WMHs, with higher specificity and sensitivity of anterior temporal lobe involvement compared to an external capsule involvement. Lacunar infarcts are presented by an imaging signal that has intensity of cerebrospinal fluid in all MRI sequences. They are localized within the semioval center, thalamus, basal ganglia and pons. CMBs are depicted as focal areas of signal loss on T2 images which increases in size on the T2*-weighted gradient echo planar images ("blooming effect").

Immunoinflammatory-mediated demyelination, the main pathological feature of multiple sclerosis (MS), is regularly accompanied by neurodegenerative processes, mostly in the form of axonal degeneration, which could be initiated by glutamate excitotoxicity. In the current study, the relationship between Th17-mediated inflammatory and excitotoxic events was investigated during an active phase of MS. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with MS and control subjects was collected, and IL-17A and glutamate levels were determined. IL-17A level was significantly higher in patients with MS; whereas no statistically significant changes in glutamate concentrations were found. There was a direct correlation between IL-17A and glutamate levels; IL-17A levels were also associated with the neutrophil expansion in CSF and blood-brain barrier disruption. However, IL-17A level and the number of neutrophils tended to fall with disease duration. The results suggest that Th17 cells might enhance and use glutamate excitotoxicity as an effector mechanism in the MS pathogenesis. Furthermore, Th17 immune response, as well as neutrophils, could be more important for MS onset rather than further disease development and progression, what could explain why some MS clinical trials, targeting Th17 cells in the later stage of the disease, failed to provide any clinical benefit.
