The study aims to understand the implementation of Problem-Based Learning and its impact on critical thinking skills for senior high school students. The study used the lesson study approach that was conducted in four cycles. Each learning activity consisted of identifying topic, presenting the report, and evaluating the Problem-Based Learning. The subject of the study was in a Senior High School in Malang, Indonesia. The level of critical thinking refers to Structure Observed Learning Outcome (SOLO) Taxonomy, consisting of Prestructural, Unistructural, Multistructural, Relational, and Extended Abstract thinking levels. The findings in the learning process show that the students’ critical thinking skills has increased. It is revealed by improving the ability to solve problems and making conclusions through critical thinking processes. The implementation of Problem-Based Learning also encourages students to think critically in the form of questioning, discussing problems and making solutions related to the employment issues, national income and economic growth in Indonesia. Subject penelitian ini dilakukan pada sebuah Sekolah Menengah Atas di Malang, Indonesia. Tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada taksonomi SOLO (Structure Observed Learning Outcome) yang meliputi prastruktural, Unistruktural, Multistruktural, Relasional, and Extended Abstract. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa selama proses pembelajaran, kemampuan siswa dalam berpikir kritis telah meningkat. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari peningkatan kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah dan membuat kesimpulan melalui proses berpikir kritis. Penerapan Problem-Based Learning juga mendorong siswa memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam berbagai aktivitas seperti mengajukan pertanyaan, mendiskusikan permasalahan, dan membuat solusi terkait permasalahan pengangguran, pendapatan nasional, pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia. The Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) has given a new impetus to educational transformation. In recent years, education experts recognize the profound impact that a myriad of technological innovations in ICT is having on education. They agree that education 4.0 will be shaped by innovations and will indeed have to train students to produce innovations. E-learning has become an increasingly popular learning approach in higher education institutions (HEIs) due to the rapid growth of Internet technologies in Malaysia. The technology acceptance model (TAM) proposes that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness predict applications usage. It has been integrated into many university programs and is one of the new learning trends. The study aims to investigate students’ acceptance towards e-learning system using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The study was conducted to the students that undergone the Diploma in Office Management and Technology program from the Faculty of Business and Management, UiTM Melaka. The purpose of the study conducted was to investigate the level of students’ acceptance in terms of ease of use and perceived usefulness of e-learning. A set of questionnaires was used for data collection. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the demographic characteristics of the study respondents. All analysis was performed by using SPSS. A total of 50 students completed the survey questionnaire with a satisfactory response rate. It was found that the perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness has a significant effect on attitude toward e-learning. The respondents agreed that e-learning is very useful and makes it easier to study the course content. Students are found to be frequently engaged in using e-learning and believed it enhancing their academic performances. The outcomes will enrich the understanding of students’ acceptance of e-learning and will assist in its continuing implementation at UiTM Melaka.
This study examined students’ problems in learning English as a second language in higher learning institutions. This paper reports on the results of an interview of 30 randomly selected MDAB students of Diploma in Office Management and Technology at UiTM Melaka. The aim of this paper is to identify the factors that contribute to the decreasing of students’ achievement in the English language. The discussion revealed the different reasons that students face in speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. In learning a second language, it is of utmost importance that learners receive maximum support in terms of a supportive and conducive learning environment as well as an adequate and meaningful language experience. This research hopes to enlighten students in learning the English language so that they may strive to improve their English skills, thus making language teaching and learning more effective and meaningful for both lecturers and students.
Tourists are continuously searching for new trends, exciting ways of traveling and a variety of adrenaline rush experiences. Dark tourism is one of many examples of tourism products that able to fulfill these objectives. Although Malaysia has many dark tourism sites, they are not globally recognized yet and able to attract international tourists. Many focused on the negative impacts of the sites rather than the potential benefits of the industry. Thus, this study is prepared to investigate the benefits of dark tourism among visitors. The study adopted a model from Kang, Scott, Lee, and Ballantyne (2012). Three factors including social benefits, learning benefits, and psychological benefits were discussed. The findings have shown that dark tourism contributes sufficient benefits which may aid the rapid development of this tourism sector in the future. This study investigates the implementation of macroprudential policy on banking sector and society. The research applied a descriptive analysis by using an in-depth interview with Bank Indonesia, representative of commercial bank, and society. The result showed that macroprudential policy has no impact on individual, but it had an impact on industrial banking specifically on bank credit lending which caused by LTV regulation. The society responses to the LTV policy is that the majority do not object to the imposition of a maximum limit for housing credit enacted by bank because of the relatively long credit period. Furthermore, another instrument of macroprudential such as GWM-LFR does not have an impact on banking sector and society but capital buffer instrument assuming a sluggish economy condition is assessed to have an impact on lending by banks.
