This study aimed at finding out the main characters’ personality in the novel of Negeri Para Bedebah by Tere Liye based on Carl Gustav Jung’s psychoanalysis. The research method used qualitative with content analysis. Data were collected by inventorying Thomas's conversation based on Carl Gustav Jung's psychoanalytic personality characteristic. It consists of think extrovert, feels extrovert, sense extrovert, intuition extrovert, think introvert, feel introvert, sensitive introvert, and intuition introvert. The results revealed that the discovery of eight main characters’ personality. First, think extrovert is demonstrated by the ability of intellectual analysis of objective experience. Second, feel extrovert is found by responding emotionally to objective reality. Third, sense extrovert is the tendency of figures to analyze the situation. Fourth, intuition extrovert is seen by its character does not care about logic. Fifth, think introvert figure depiction looks inflexible, cold, judge, and cruel. Sixth, feel introvert showed by figures are selfish and unsympathetic. Seventh, sense introvert found the ability of the senses to give them subjective meaning. Eighth, intuition introvert is demonstrated by the figure closing in and keeping the distance from the others. In conclusion, the eight personality types can be found on the whole structure of an irregular novel story.
This study aims to describe the metaphor of love spoken by the main character in the novel Balada Cinta Maj Weaving by Geidurrahman El-Mishry using conceptual metaphors. The method used is descriptive analysis. The focus of the love metaphor is the expressions on the speech of the main character. Data collection uses documentation techniques with steps; read, mark, record, and categorize. Technical analysis uses content analysis that looks at the situation and condition of the speaker. The analysis shows that there are metaphorical expressions of love as an expression of the mental condition of the main character who is experiencing sadness, happiness, longing, and hope. Consequently sadness is the most dominant inner condition of hope, longing, and happiness. Conclusion, the whole phrase is used to convey the mental condition of the main character who is in love. Cerita pendek (cerpen) adalah kisah yang selesai dibaca sekali duduk sekira setengah hingga dua jam. Sehingga minat membaca cerpen sejatinya lebih merupakan proses awal untuk memahami teks yang dibaca. STRUCTURE, FUNCTION, AND INHERITANCE SYSTEM OF THE GAMBANG RANCAG ORAL TRADITION IN THE BETAWI COMMUNITYAbstractJakarta is inhabited by people formed from a melting plot process, namely mixing of various ethnicities and regions, both from within and outside Indonesia. From the melting plot process, the position of the Betawi people changed to a new identity called the Betawi tribe or the Betawi people. This aims of study is to describe the structure, function, and inheritance sistem of the gambang rancag oral tradition in the Betawi community. This research was conducted in four areas of DKI Jakarta and another area in West Java, namely Depok. The choice of location of this research was carried out because objectively these areas were the population base of the Betawi community. Data collection by observation, interview and documentation study. Data analysis with interdisciplinary approach, structural theory in Abrams and G. L. Koster Malay poetry, Albert Lord's formula theory and inheritance sistem, and Functions by Alan Dundes and Teeuw. The results of this study were first, describing the existence of communication between the creator, the text, the audience, and the community that can be considered through the text structure (1) the flow scheme, (2) the theme, and (3) the character's actions. Second, functions, were (1) affirmation function, (2) negation function, and (3) restoration function. Dari proses melting plot, kedudukan orang Betawi berubah menjadi identitas baru yang dinamakan suku Betawi atau orang Betawi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan struktur, fungsi, dan sistem pewarisan tradisi lisan gambang rancag pada masyarakat Betawi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di empat wilayah DKI Jakarta dan satu daerah di Jawa Barat, yaitu Depok. Pemilihan lokasi penelitian ini dilakukan karena secara objektif daerah-daerah tersebut merupakan basis penduduk masyarakat Betawi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, dan studi dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan dengan pendekatan interdisiplin, teori struktur puitika Melayu Abrams dan Koster, teori formula dan sistem pewarisan oleh Lord, dan fungsi oleh Dundes dan Teeuw. Adapun hasil penelitian ini, yaitu pertama, menggambarkan adanya komunikasi antara pencipta, teks, penonton, dan masyarakat yang dapat diperhatikan melalui struktur teks (1) skema alur, (2) tema, dan (3) lakuan tokoh. Kedua, fungsi, yaitu (1) fungsi afirmasi, (2) fungsi negasi, dan (3) fungsi restorasi. Ketiga, yaitu sistem pewarisan, meliputi: (1) memberikan model, (2) mencontoh model, dan (3) mempertunjukkan model. The development of the Islamic character of the Pulo people through the folklore of Panglima Hitam and Raja Tidung as local wisdom of the people of Tidung Island. Tidung Island, which is now a tourist destination, is slowly undergoing changes in the lives of the island's people who were originally a fishing community, now turned into a tourist destination. The shift in function which originally had a fishing tradition turned into a tourist resort that is ready to accommodate the coffers of tourists who come and go to Tidung Island. The existence of Tidung Island is recorded in an oral tradition of folklore that is still known by the people, namely the Panglima Hitam folklore and the story of Raja Tidung. The value of Islamic character as local wisdom is used to read the two folk tales, especially the character development of the younger generation on Tidung Island. The Islamic character of the island community that must be developed includes: (1) moral values to God, (2) moral values to others, and (3) moral values to oneself. These three Islamic characters serve as character models used by the community to develop the potential of the Tidung Island community.
