The acquisition and the handling of language by deaf children, users of sign language, are a great challenge for bilingualism. Deaf people face several problems within the writing appropriation process caused by a lack of connection between the space-vision language and alphabet writing based on the oral and audition principle. A writing system that would valorize the visual aspect, or signwriting system, has been introduced to overcome these difficulties. Beyond Libra writing, it mainly becomes a tool for deaf children to reach the expertise of alphabetic writing. Current research surveys and analyzes the scientific production of the signwriting system posterior to the 2001 publication of the Dicionário Enciclopédico Ilustrado Trilíngue da Língua de Sinais Brasileira. It aims to verify whether there has been any growth or deepening of studies on the phenomenon that would characterize definitely the culture of deaf people.
