A proposta de organização deste dossiê surgiu do encontro de três pesquisadores que vivenciam momentos distintos em suas trajetórias acadêmicas, mas que se encontram numa mesma clareira em relação aos estudos sobre “autobiografias, memórias, diários, autoficções, romances autobiográficos, testemunhos, histórias de vida e biografias”: Manuel Alberca, professor da Universidade de Málaga e professor visitante nas universidade de Universidade de Toulouse II-Le Mirail, París XIII e Tours (França), Berna (Suíça), Universidade Livre de Bruxelas e Passau (Alemanha); Ana Cristina Marinho, professora da Universidade Federal da Paraíba e Silvia Maria Fernandes Costa, doutoranda do Programa de Pós-graduação em Letras da Universidade Federal da Paraíba.
Este artigo visa analisar o insondável no fantástico contemporâneo no conto Cuentencillo policíaco (2008), do colombiano Gabriel García Márquez (1927-2014), relato que perturba o leitor quanto à ameaça do efeito fantástico ao romper os limites entre o real e o irreal na narrativa, no momento em que o corpo do senhor B chega em casa à seis e cinco da tarde, depois do seu dia de trabalho, abre a porta, entra com óculos posto, uma revista solicitada há uma hora antes por telefone por sua esposa, a senhora A, quando ele cai de bruços próximo a porta e a esposa percebe que ele está morto. O médico constata, pouco tempo depois de chamado, que ele morreu a pelo menos oito horas. Causando questionamentos, tanto nas personagens, quanto no leitor, o que os estudiosos chamam de violação das leis da realidade. Para esta análise, utiliza-se, principalmente, algumas ideias referentes ao gênero fantástico de Alazraki (2001), Ceserani (2006), Roas (2013), dentre outros. Deste modo, constata-se que a ameaça do fantástico está ligada ao medo, emocional e/ou intelectual, no fantástico tradicional, dos séculos XVIII e XIX, e/ou contemporâneo, criando a dúvida, a instabilidade do real, a quebra das normas da sociedade, adaptando-se, por assim dizer, a nova realidade que se faz.
Este artigo visa apresentar a autora inglesa Mary Shelley (1797-1851) como iniciadora da ficção científica com a obra Frankenstein ou o Prometeu Moderno (1818), e esta como uma obra matricial de autoria feminina, para questionar a sua possível ausência no Museu Britânico e/ou os valores canônicos defendidos por Virginia Woolf (1882-1941), a partir de seus apontamentos sobre a mulher na ficção, no ensaio Um teto todo seu (1929). Para isso, observaram-se os pontos críticos assinalados por Woolf, contrapostos com a vida de Mary Shelley e a obra Frankenstein, para se buscar entender a não referência a Shelley diante dos diversos nomes de autores citados no ensaio. Woolf admite que a estrutura patriarcal barrou a mulher, no decorrer dos séculos, em uma vida sem condições materiais para pensar e contemplar no momento da criação. Contudo, Shelley, mesmo vivendo em uma sociedade vitoriana patriarcal do século XIX, na qual a mulher deveria ser submissa ao homem, teve condições adequadas à produção ficcional ativa, escrevendo obras como Frankenstein, que permanece presente 200 anos após sua publicação, desafiando a todos com um magnetismo que perpassa o campo das artes. Uma obra que deveria estar incandescente nas estantes do Museu Britânico.
