With Aspen Plus, three simulation models for Low-Temperature Multi-Effect Distillation (LT-MED) seawater desalination system are established in this work, which includes the parallel flow, forward flow and backward flow processes. Performance analysis including the motive steam flow, Gained Output Ratio (GOR) and heat transfer area are conducted as a function of the process type, number of effects, heating steam temperature and the effect NO. for Thermal Vapor Compression (TVC) ejection. Results indicate that the established simulation models are accurate and reliable; the process type, the number of effects and the effect NO. for TVC ejection have a great impact on the performance, while the effect of heating steam temperature on the performance is relatively weaker.
The recirculating cooling water treatment process of low carbon & environmental protection adopts advanced design concepts of passive and energy saving and emission reduction. This process will be used widely in fossil-fueled power plant, which uses municipal reclaimed water or coal mine drainage. The operation results show that the effluent quality is stable, the concentration ratio is higher and the recirculating cooling water quality is better than the design criteria. It meets the safety and economic operation of units.
The water source of one ultra-supercritical fossil-fueled power plant is municipal reclaimed water and reservoir water. Techno-economic comparison of several schemes for recirculating cooling water treatment system show that the side stream lime softening treatment system is an optimal scheme. It has comprehensive functions of scale prevention, corrosion prevention and removing suspended solids, and the system combines the make-up water softening treatment system and the side stream suspended solid removal treatment system of recirculating cooling water, which reduce the investment and the operation cost, and meet the requirement of maximum water saving. The side stream lime softening treatment system is energy saving and discharge reduction.
The advanced lime treatment system of municipal reclaimed water is applied increasingly extensive in fossil-fueled power plants. Lime metering is one core technique of this system. Lime metering in dry condition and lime metering in wet condition have advantages of metering accurately, no leakiness, no blockage, less investment, full automatic control and etc. These two automatic lime metering systems can meet the operation demand of the advanced lime treatment system.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
