An ultra-thin DLP TM* rear projector composed of a refractive-reflective projection optics and an off-axis hybrid screen has been designed. The projection optics has extraordinarily large projection angle of 136 degrees with very low distortion, which is also applicable for a video-wall monitor as well as a stand-alone display. Results of prototype projection systems using the technology will be presented.
Abstract— A new projection optical system with an exceptionally wide field angle of 160° and a short projection distance of 125 mm for a 62‐in. screen has been developed. It is constructed based on the Direct Projection Method which does not require a back mirror. This paper presents a new optical design concept and the characteristics of a prototype optical system.
We have developed a new projection optics with the exceptionally wide field angle of 160 degrees and the short projection distance of 125 mm with a 62 inch screen. It is constructed based on the Direct Projection Method which does not need a back mirror. In this paper, we will describe our new optical design concept and the characteristics of a prototype optical system.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
