In this article, a new wireless power transfer (WPT) design is proposed for improving the efficiency of the system. The suggested system contains two spiral defected ground structure (DGS) resonators coupled back-toback. A band-pass filter is then to be designed for the wireless power to be transferred from the transmitter unit to the receiver unit. The DGS resonators are loaded through chip capacitors for miniaturization. The proposed structures are fabricated and tested. The proposed system has the highest efficiency of 97.7% at a transmission distance of 10 mm which is suitable for biomedical applications. Both simulated and experimental results are in good concurrence.

This paper presents a new structure for highly efficient short-range wireless power transfer. The proposed structure is based on strongly coupled resonators using H-slot defected ground structures. An equivalent circuit model for Hslot coupled resonators is introduced. Measurement results for the new proposed structure show a power transfer efficiency of 70% at 15 mm distance between driver and load resonators. Experimental measurements have shown good agreement with electromagnetic and circuit simulations.

This paper presents a new design for wireless power transfer (WPT) systems using asymmetric structures for the transmitter (TX) and the receiver (RX), and the TX/RX are constructed using spiral-strips defected ground structure (DGS) resonators. The proposed spiral-strips DGS resonator overcome the problem of low self-inductance that encountered by H-shape DGS resonator in [1,2], so that the proposed WPT system that employs the proposed spiral-strips DGS resonators has better efficiency and higher power transmission distance. Design methodology of the proposed WPT system are formulated and fabricated. The measurement results show a WPT efficiency of 78% at a transmission distance of 40 mm with the TX and RX areas of 50 × 50 mm 2 and 30 × 30 mm 2 , respectively.
