Aim: To reveal the different dimensions of workplace violence that healthcare workers are exposed to, and to evaluate the impact of exposure to violence on the job satisfaction of healthcare workers. Methods: The study sample comprises 169 people working in different positions in the hospital (doctor, nurse, secretary, assistant staff, etc.). The Workplace Violence Questionnaire and Job Satisfaction Scale were used to collect the study data. The questionnaire forms were distributed in closed envelopes according to the random sampling method, and were filled out by the volunteer participants themselves. Descriptive statistics and t-test were used to analyze the study data. Results: The results of the study show that more than half of the hospital staff (57.5%) had been exposed to violence in the last year; 54.8% of participants were exposed to verbal violence, 26% were exposed to physical violence, and 5.4% were exposed to sexual harassment. In addition, it was found that the job satisfaction levels of those individuals who were exposed to violence (16.71) were lower than the job satisfaction level of those who were not exposed to violence (18.59) (t = -2.793, p-value = 0.006). Conclusion: The study results show that healthcare workers are at serious risk of violence in the workplace. In addition, it is observed that exposure to violence negatively affects job satisfaction, which is important in regarding workplace attitude. İş sağlığı ve güvenliğinin temel amacı, kaza ve hastalık şeklinde ortaya çıkan tehlike ve risklerden çalışanları korumak, zararlarını ortadan kaldırmak, ortadan kaldırılamayan tehlikeleri kabul edilebilir seviyeye indirmek, fiziksel, sosyal ve ruhsal yönden tam iyilik halini hedefleyip yaşam kalitesini yükselterek çalışanların sağlığının olumsuz etkilenmesini önlemektir. Tüm dünyada olduğu gibi ülkemizde de meydana gelen iş kazaları ve meslek hastalıklarının bir bölümü ölümle, bir bölümü ise sakatlanma ve yaralanmalarla geçici ve kalıcı iş göremezlik durumu ile sonuçlanmaktadır. İşverenler; işletmenin menfaatleri nedeniyle; çalışanlar, doğrudan olumsuz sonuçlarından etkilenen kişiler olarak, devlet ise, vatandaşlarının sağlık ve mutluluğunu düşünmek zorunda olduğu için iş sağlığı ve güvenliği konusu ile yakından ilgilenmek durumundadır. Bu nedenle iş yerlerinde iş kazaları ve meslek hastalıklarını önleme konusunda güvenlik kültürü oluşturulması ayrı bir önem taşımaktadır. Endüstri devrimiyle beraber çalışma hayatına katılan kadınlar, günümüzde en az erkekler kadar emeklerini sunmakta ve en az erkekler kadar iş yerlerindeki risk faktörlerinden etkilenmektedir. Bu çalışmada araştırmacılar, Bursa'da metal sanayinde çalışan kadınların iş yerlerindeki riskler hakkındaki farkındalıklarını ortaya koymayı ve İSG kültürü oluşumundaki önemini vurgulamayı hedeflemektedirler. Çalışmanın örneklemini metal sanayinde çalışan 1918 kadın oluşturmaktadır. Katılımcıların ortalama yaşı 31,49±6,85 ve işyerlerinde ortalama çalışma yılı 6,36±5,85'dir. Verilerin analizinde, faktör analizi, güvenirlik analizi, korelasyon ve regresyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre kadın çalışanlarda, güvenlik kültürünün yerleşmesinde öncül nitelikte olan güvenli davranış ile risk algıları arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur.
Aim: The aim of the research is to reveal the prevalence of violence against police officers and to examine the effect of being subjected to violence on their mental health. Methods: The sample of the research consists of 339 police officers working in different duty areas. Questionnaire technique was used to collect data in the study. The questionnaire form consists of two parts. In the first part of the questionnaire, there are questions to determine the demographic characteristics of the participants (age, gender, marital status, education level, working year, etc.). In the second part of the questionnaire, there are questions to measure workplace violence and the Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale. SPSS 23.0 package program was used in the analysis of the research data. Frequency distribution, descriptive statistics and t-test were used in the analysis of the data. Results: In the current study, it has been determined that 39.2% of police officers have been exposed to at least one type of workplace violence in the last 1 year. It was observed that the most common type of violence was verbal violence (28.9%). The results show that exposure to workplace violence negatively affects the stress and depression levels of police officers. Conclusion: Research results show that workplace violence is an important risk factor for police officers. Being exposed to violence also negatively affects the mental health of police officers.
