Providing muscular strength balance is an important factor in both improving sport performance and preventing sports injuries. The aim of the current study is to determine the leg and shoulder muscle strength ratios of elite female volleyball players. 14 elite voluntary female volleyball players were included in the study. Dominant (D) and nondominant (ND) knee and shoulder muscle strength ratios of volleyball players who participated in the study were determined by isokinetic dynamometer at 60 ° s-1 and 180 ° s-1 angular speeds. Bilateral force differences (BLD), leg hamstring / quadriceps ratio (H/Q) and shoulder external / internal ratio (E/I) averages and standard deviations were determined for the leg and shoulder muscles after the obtained data were applied to the SPSS program. Statistical analysis revealed that the H/Q ratio was low and the E/I ratio was high at 60°s-1 and 180°s-1 angular velocities. It was also been determined that the BLD of the shoulder muscles was high while the BLD of the leg muscles was at the desired level at 60°s-1 and 180°s-1 angular speeds. As a result, the volleyball players participating in the study seem to have lower leg muscle strength and lower H/Q ratio. Furthermore, although it is thought that more work is done with the upper extremity in the volleyball, it can be said that lower extremity force development should not be ignored since it is a well-known fact that the entire body is carried by the lower extremity to change rapidly.
The purpose of the study is to investigate the interaction among Physical Activity Levels (PAL), academic successes, perceived academic competency and Motor Skills (MS) of male and female students at the age of 14-17 in terms of gender variable. The PALs, perceived academic competency and academic successes were determined through International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), Academic Competency Scale and General Academic Averages respectively. MS were tested by sit-and-reach flexibility, vertical jump, hand grip strenght and back and leg strength tests. After the data were entered into the SPSS 16,0 program, paired t-test was done in order to determine the difference between genders. Also, the interaction among PAL, academic success, academic competency and MS of male and female students were analysed through Pearson correlation analysis. As a result, it was found out that parameters related to the PAL and strength of male students are higher than those of female ones while female students’ academic success levels are better than those of male students. In addition, while no significant relation between academic success and PAL was found, a positive relation was determined the academic success and perceived academic competency of both genders.
Bu çalışmanın amacı, sedanter kadınlara uygulanan 8 haftalık reformer pilates egzersizlerinin vücut kompozisyonu ve bazı fiziksel uygunluk parametrelerine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Çalışmaya dokuz sağlıklı sedanter kadın (yaş= 29±7,12) gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Katılımcıların vücut yağ yüzdesi, çevre ölçümleri, sırt ve bacak kuvveti, esneklik ve denge performansları çalışma başlamadan önce ve 8 haftalık antrenmanlar sonrasında olmak üzere iki kez ölçülmüştür. Reformer pilates egzersizlerinin ön test-son test sonuçları arasındaki farkı belirlemede nonparametrik testlerden Wilcoxon testi kullanılmıştır. Yapılan istatistiksel analiz sonuçlarına göre 8 haftalık reformer pilates egzersizlerinin vücut yağ yüzdesini, çevre ölçümlerini (bacak, basen, bel ve göğüs bölgeleri) ve fiziksel uygunluk parametrelerini (esneklik, denge, kuvvet, vücut yağ yüzdesi) istatiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde geliştirdiği belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak reformer pilates egzersizlerinin, fiziksel uygunluk düzeyini geliştirme ve korumada bir alternatif yöntem olarak kullanılabileceği söylenebilir.
<p>In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between leg volume - mass and balance – reaction time of the third league female volleyball players. 20 volunteer third league volleyball players, who are still active, are participated in this study. The average age of participant female volleyball players is 23,20±3,42 years, average height 176,30±7,78 cm, average weight 65.11±8,22 kg. Participant female volleyball players’ leg volume by Frustum method, leg mass by Hanavan method, static and dynamic balance by Biodex Balance System and visual reaction time by MOART Lafayette Reaction Measuring Device were measured. In analyzing the relation among the measurements, Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient was used. As a result of analysis of the obtained data; significant moderate correlation was found between the legs mass and dynamic balance (r=0.654, p<0,05). It was determined with a highly significant relationship between leg mass and foot volume (r=0.913, p<0,01) and foot mass (r=0.917, p<0,01). Also a significant relationship was found between leg volume and foot volume (r=0.800, p<0,01) and foot mass (r=0.644, p<0,05).</p><p>Consequently; it can be said that there is a highly significant relationship between leg volume-mass and foot volume-mass, and there is a relationship between dynamic balance and leg mass of the third league female volleyball players.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Özet</strong></p><p>Bu çalışmada, üçüncü lig bayan voleybolcuların bacak hacimleri ile denge ve reaksiyon zamanları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmaya üçüncü ligde oynayan toplam 20 gönüllü bayan voleybolcu katılmıştır. Çalışmaya katılan bayan voleybolcuların yaş ortalamaları 23,20±3,42 yıl, boy ortalamaları 176,30±7,78 cm, ağırlık ortalamaları 65.11±8,22 kg’dır. Çalışmada katılan bayan voleybolcuların bacak hacmi Frustum yöntemi, bacak kütlesi Hanavan yöntemi, statik-dinamik denge ölçümü Biodex Denge Sistemi ve görsel reaksiyon zamanı ölçümleri MOART Lafayette Reaksiyon Ölçüm cihazı ile ölçülmüştür. Elde edilen ölçümler arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemek amacıyla Pearson Çarpımlar Moment Korelasyon katsayısı kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizi sonucunda; bacak kütlesi ile dinamik denge arasında orta düzeyde (r=0.654, p<0,05), bacak kütlesi ile ayak hacmi (r=0.913, p<0,01) ve ayak kütlesi (r=0.917, p<0,01) arasında yüksek düzeyde ilişki bulunurken; bacak hacmi ile ayak hacmi (r=0.800, p<0,01) ve ayak kütlesi (r=0.644, p<0,05) arasında ilişki tespit edilmiştir.</p><p>Sonuç olarak; çalışmadaki bulgular 3. Ligde oynayan bayan voleybolcuların bacak hacmi ve bacak kütlesinin ayak kütlesi ve ayak hacmi ile yüksek düzeyde ilişki gösterdiği, dinamik dengenin de bacak kütlesiyle ilişkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir.</p>
