Ester derivatives of p-hydroxycinnamic compounds have high anticancer activity. However, the ester compounds usually easier to be decomposed than their amide derivates, so the ester compounds have a low potential to be applied as anticancer. In this research, the amide derivatives of caffeic and p-coumaric acids have been synthesized using o-tolylamine to give trans-N-(o-tolyl)caffeamide (5a) and trans-N-(o-tolyl)-p-coumaramide (5b), respectively. The products were characterized by FT-IR, 13C-NMR, and 1H-NMR methods. In the FT-IR spectrum, compound 5a showed absorption bands of N-H bond at 3236.55 cm−1 and 1533.41 cm−1 as stretching and bending vibrations, respectively; and compound 5b had absorption bands at 3267.41 cm−1 and 1527.82 cm−1. In the 13C-NMR spectrum, compound 5a gave 15 of peaks that representing 16 of carbons, and compound 5b gave 14 of peaks that were also representing 16 of carbons. In the 1H-NMR spectrum, the peak of N-H of compound 5a and compound 5b appeared at 8.57 ppm and 8.87 ppm, respectively. Activity assay results of both compounds against P388 leukemia murine cells indicated that both compounds have a high potential as anticancer, especially compound 5a. The compound 5a was more active than the analogous compounds which the previous synthezised.
This study focuses on the role of youth as an agency of sustainable waste management. Indonesia faces big problems in processing plastic waste. For this reason, the presence of students as an agent is very necessary. The research aims to determine the extent of planned behavior theory can influence students to participate in waste separation. This study applies the planned behavior theory. This theory has several items such as motivation, situational factors, attitude, environmental awareness, subjective norms, intention and behavior, perceived behavioral control, and moral obligation. These factors influence students to participate in sustainable waste management.
Abstract-This paper focuses on the accomplishment of the sustainable development goals as a method in women to confront terrorism. Women have the crucial role in confronting terrorism. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efforts that are made by local governments in achieving SDGs. In the achievement of this research, qualitative research method is utilized. This research found that women empowerment measures relates to the ability of women engagement in the economic sector. Women need to be improved their knowledge on the various economic opportunities. The research supports the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals that has 17 goals. The accomplishment of SDGs, especially declining the poverty line of the society is one strategic initiative to fight terrorism.
This research focuses on the role of online social media in leading public opinion to care more about climate change. This paper aims to analyze the extent to which online social media is involved in reporting developments in climate change or other environmental issues. This research is useful for regional head candidates or legislative in carrying out political campaigns. This research is also useful for stakeholders in making policies related to issues environments after getting a lot of data and documents from online social media. The theory used in this study is stimulus-response organism (S-O-R) theory. This theory explains that the communication process can take place from the source or communicator through the media to the audience.
Abstract-This research focuses on the traditional versus modern methods in conducting the election of the head of a village in Indonesia. A village head has a major role in organizing and managing community interests. In participating in the election of the village head, a village head must deliver his the programs. One tool that can be utilized in delivering some programs is social media. Despite so, there are some village heads that use the traditional ways, which are commonly known as 'door to door' approach. The purpose of this study is to investigate traditional versus modern methods as a technique of village head in transmitting and spreading programs to people. The research design of this study is qualitative study. This research used interviewing method. This research was conducted in Makkawaru Village, Mattiro Bulu Subdistrict, Pinrang Regency, and South Sulawesi Province. This research found that the use of social media and Internet is still infrequent among the villagers. Most of which use social media and the Internet is generally still among the youth. The candidates of village heads in delivering campaign programs are still traditional.
Abstract-This paper focuses on the empowerment of women in preventing the terrorism action. The empowerment of women is one of the forms of soft power. In preventing the occurrence of terrorism, which required not only hard power but also soft power. The activity is one form of the empowerment of women in preventing the occurrence of terrorism. This paper aims to determine the economic activities undertaken by women as a form of soft power and as one way in preventing the occurrence of terrorism. This research is case study. Case study is one type of qualitative research. This research was conducted in Pinrang District. This study found that women have a big role in the field of entrepreneurship. Women in this area develop a cake or traditional food. Pinrang Regency has traditional food that needs to be kept preserved. This traditional food has its own meaning when presented. The government should support the entrepreneurship of women in Pinrang Regency. This effort will raise the family economy that will ultimately create family welfare. A prosperous family will not think to participate in terrorist activities.
