A new oxime-containing Schiff base ligand and its Cu(II), Ni(II), Zn(II) complexes have been synthesized. The structure of the ligand was identified by elemental analysis, UV-vis, FT-IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra. The synthesized complexes were characterized by FT-IR, SEM, TGA, elemental analysis, electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The Zinc(II) complex was also characterized by 1H NMR spectra. Elemental analysis data of the metal complexes indicated that the metal: ligand ratio of the metal complex is 1:1. The magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectral data showed square-planar geometry for Cu(II) complex and tetrahedral geometry for Ni(II) complex.

Elde edilen bileşiklerin yapıları, İnfrared spektroskopisi (FT-IR), nükleer manyetik rezonans (1 H NMR), termogravimetrik analiz (TG/DTG), manyetik süsseptibilite, kondüktometrik ölçümleri ve elementel analiz yöntemleriyle ile karakterize edilmiştir.

The intramolecular O-HÁ Á ÁN hydrogen bond results in the formation of a non-planar, six-membered ring, which adopts a flattened-boat conformation. In the crystal structure, intermolecular C-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds link the molecules to form parallel networks. There is a C-HÁ Á Á contact between the methyl group and the benzene ring. A -contact between the benzene and phenyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 4.681 (5) Å ] is also observed.
