Cet article s’intéresse aux effets inattendus de l’école sur les liens que l’enfant entretient avec ses parents lorsque ceux-ci sont d’origine étrangère. Les auteurs interrogent les incidences de la scolarisation des enfants sur les rapports familiaux. Des exemples montrent que l’école peut être le lieu où les conflits psychiques vécus par les héritiers de la migration émergent. Un dispositif groupal visant à travailler ces conflits est également présenté. Il permet de comprendre pourquoi l’institution scolaire joue quelquefois le rôle de catalyseur des difficultés que peuvent rencontrer les familles en situation de migration.
Résumé « L’autorité familiale entre crise et conflit. » La confrontation à l’autorité, plus que d’être garante de l’interdit, permet à l’enfant d’échafauder un jeu dans lequel la désobéissance questionne les places générationnelles. L’identification aux adultes ne se suffit pas de tendresse, elle suit un processus conflictuel qui dépend du cadre formé par la société. Celle-ci doit, dès la phase anale, permettre à la famille d’amorcer un « conflit fondamental ». Ce processus, qui est celui de l’identification au surmoi parental, fait de l’autorité un moyen de transmission essentiel : non seulement en ce qui concerne les normes et codes culturels, mais aussi, et peut-être surtout, celui d’une contenance psychique.
