Introduction: Stress is present in every part of human life. It can be encountered especially among people, who due to the nature of their jobs, have to make quick and adequate decisions. The profession that can be included in this group is paramedic. The aim: To analyse the level of stress and strategies of dealing with it among paramedics taking into account gender and age of the sample group. Material and methods: The sample size consisted of 120 paramedics working for Emergency Medical Service. The survey was carried out from May to October 2017. The participation was voluntary and anonymous. As an estimate of tested parameters PSS-10 test was used to assess level of stress and mini-COPE test to assess strategies of dealing with stress. The analysis was carried out using STATISTICA 12 software. Results: 49 women took part in the survey, who consisted of 40.83% of the whole sample size. Statistical analysis showed significant correlation between the level of stress and gender. Women were more impacted by stress in their job. The most popular strategy of dealing with stress for both genders were undertaking actions and planning. Statistically significant difference was shown for 5 strategies: seeking emotional and instrumental support, denial, stopping actions as well as blaming yourself and all of them were more frequently chosen by women. Age was not a significant factor in terms of level of stress encountered, however played important role in strategies undertaken to deal with stress which was blaming yourself. Conclusions: Stress in paramedics’ job is a key issue. Choosing appropriate strategy of dealing with stress by paramedics can help them to keep optimal level of stress at work and it should be used in motivating and effective way.
Ból głowy wystąpił u 23,6% badanych kobiet i u 14,9% mężczyzn. Z kolei dyskomfort/ból w klatce piersiowej dotyczył mężczyzn w 23,4% przypadków, a kobiet w 12,5%.WnioskiInterwencje ZRM z powodu HA najczęściej dotyczą kobiet, w starszym wieku, które prezentują wyższe niż mężczyźni wartości ciśnienia skurczowego. Występowanie dolegliwości towarzyszących wysokim wartości ciśnienia jest częste. U kobiet dominują bóle głowy, a u mężczyzn bóle w klatce piersiowej.
Aim: Analysis of out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest cases in Brzozow county. Material and methods: Analysis of 105 out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest cases in Brzozow county. Data was extracted between September 2016 to end of February 2018 from dispatch order cards and emergency medical services cards. Statistical analysis was conducted using STATISTICA 12 software. Statistical significance was set to p<0,05 level. Results: There were 66 men (62,9%) and 39 (37,1%) women in the analysed group. Average age was 70,5 (SD=15,8). In 88,6% cases sudden cardiac arrest happened at home and for the rest 11,4% cases it was a public place. Families called emergency services in 20% (n=21) cases, in 16,2% (n=17) cases people suffering from sudden cardiac arrest and in 63,8% (n=67) cases it was a person classified as “other”. Sudden cardiac arrest a most frequently happened between 6:00-11:59 among 39,1% (n=41) of all patients. Incidence rate in the specified region was 106,06/100 000/ year. ROSC occurred only in 15,3% (n=16 cases). Conclusions: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the specified region indicate low occurrence of return of spontaneous circulation. The reason behind this might be associated with a small number of cardiopulmonary resuscitation trials. Results indicate that further analysis of this phenomenon is required.
STRESZCZENIENAGły POwRóT KRąŻENIA I RyTMU SERCA PODCZAS PIERwSZEj ANALIZy AKTywNOśCI ELEKTRyCZNEj SERCA wstęp. Uzyskanie powrotu spontanicznego krwi (ROSC) u poszkodowanego z zatrzymaniem krążenia jest głównym celem prowadzenia resuscytacji krążeniowo -oddechowej. Cel. Ocena częstości przywrócenia spontanicznego krążenia (ROSC) w zależności od rytmu serca w momencie pierwszej analizy czynności elektrycznej serca. Materiał i metody. Słowa kluczowe: zawał serca, resuscytacja, nagły powrót krążenia AbSTRACT RETURN Of SPONTANEOUS CIRCULATION AND HEART RHyTHM DURING THE fIRST ANALySIS Of THE HEART ELECTRICAL ACTIvITy Introduction. Return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) of a patient with cardiac arrest is the main goal of carrying out cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Aim. Evaluation of frequency of return of spontaneous circulation depending on the heart rhythms in the first moment of heart electrical activity. Material and methods. Analysis of 105 cases of sudden cardiac arrest in out-of-hospital conditions on the premises of Brzozow Emergency Medical Service from September 2016 to the end of February 2018. The data was collected from intervention medical cards and medical rescue procedure cards. Statistical analysis was carried out using STATISTICA software. Statistical significance was assumed to be p<0.05.
