Introdução: A distócia de ombro é uma complicação obstétrica que ocorre durante o parto e que pode levar a lesões graves no ombro do bebê. Ela ocorre quando o ombro do bebê fica preso na pelve da mãe durante o parto e não consegue passar pelo canal vaginal. A distócia de ombro é uma emergência obstétrica que requer intervenção médica imediata. Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo é avaliar a prevalência e as consequências da distócia de ombro durante o parto. Metodologia: Para produzir este estudo, foi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura científica, utilizando as bases de dados PubMed e Cochrane, no período de 2016 até 2022. Foram incluídos estudos que avaliaram a prevalência e as consequências da distócia de ombro durante o parto. Resultados: Os resultados mostraram que a distócia de ombro é uma complicação relativamente rara durante o parto, mas pode levar a lesões graves no ombro do bebê, incluindo fraturas, luxações e lesões nervosas. Esta emergência obstétrica também pode levar a complicações maternas, como parto prematuro, cesárea e hemorragia. Além disso, a distócia de ombro é mais comum em pacientes com antecedentes de distócia de ombro ou em mulheres que têm diabetes gestacional ou hipertensão. Conclusões: A distócia de ombro é uma emergência obstétrica que pode ter sérias consequências para a saúde do bebê e da mãe. É importante que os profissionais de saúde estejam atentos aos fatores de risco para distócia de ombro e adotem medidas preventivas, como o monitoramento adequado durante o parto. Além disso, é importante que as mulheres grávidas estejam cientes dos sinais e sintomas de distócia de ombro e busquem atendimento médico imediato se tiverem qualquer suspeita de que estejam ocorrendo.
