This paper studies language and creativity on the covid-19 term, social environment and social practices and multimedia that occurs in English, Arabic and Indonesian. The study attempts to find answers to the following questions: a) how are the vocabulary forms related to covid-19 used in English, Arabic, and Indonesian in providing information about the disease?, b) what is the lexical structure of synonym, borrowing, abbreviation, acronym in English, Arabic, and Indonesian? This study aims to describe the emergence of new English, Arabic, Indonesian vocabularies related to COVID-19 by using Carter's theory. It used multimedia or news-paper, text, graphics, animation, audio and video information from BBC, CNN online other social media resources that show covid-19 vocabularies as the key standard procedure for collecting data. The criteria used to analyze the data were orthographic, sound-change, phonological, morpheme contrast, creativity, language and social context. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The source of the data was basic-word vocabulary. The data are collected using three dictionaries as sources to get information and were analyzed using structural linguistics, especially phonology, morphology, and semantics. The result shows several aspects of findings such as identifying synonym, borrowing, abbreviation, and acronym. Using the multimedia from BBC, CNN online, the result of this study shows that there are 150 vocabularies. Using the linguistic elements, the vocabularies that describe covid-19 concept are classified into 102 words and 48 phrases.
Artikel ini mendeskripsikan komunikasi Spiritual pembaca Mantra dengan Tuhannya. Ngaben Tradisional Bali adalah interaksi pemimpin agama Hindu kepada Tuhannya melalui mantra. Permasalahan penelitian ini terungkap bahwa orang yang telah meninggal dunia harus tetap dibimbing oleh Atma (Roh) untuk mencapai Moksa (Surga); 2) Prosesi Ngaben yang dilakukan tidak boleh asal-asalan karena sudah ada tahapan yang harus dilalui; 3) Mantra-mantra yang dibacakan dalam setiap tahap Kremasi bukan sekedar kata-kata kosong yang tidak memiliki makna tetapi semua Mantra yang diucapkan masing-masing memiliki makna Spiritualnya sendiri. Pendekatan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, sumber data penelitian adalah dua Tokoh Agama yang memimpin Prosesi Kremasi dari Desa Werdhi Agung, Kecamatan Dumoga Tengah, Kabupaten Bolaang Mongondow. Untuk mengumpulkan data dengan metode observasi dan wawancara mendalam. Ditemukan bahwa 1) pemimpin agama melakukan kreamasi setiap tahap melalui Mantra,ia dapat mandat dari pemerintah. 2) semua makna dalam mantra yang diucapkan dalam prosesi kremasi, lebih menekankan pengampunan, diawali pesan keluarga, dan hidup kembali menjadi manusia lebih baik dari sebelumnya. Sedangkan pesan keluarga disampaikan oleh pemimpin keluarga kepada ruh Mayat disebut komunikasi transedental.
This paper studies comparative linguistics on the process of word-formation that occurs in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), Palestinian Arabic (PLS), and Tunisian Arabic (TNS). It is addressed to portray the process of the verb, adjective, and noun formation in three Arabic languages by using Plag’s theory and to identify sameness and contrariness of basic words by using Hock’s theory. This study used 220 of Morris Swadesh's basic vocabulary as the main guidelines for obtaining data. The criteria were adopted to analyze the data were orthographic, sound-change, phonological and morpheme contrast. This research used descriptive qualitative. The source of the data was basic-word vocabulary. The data were gathered by conducting an in-depth interview with five post-graduate students of the Arabic Department at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta as informants to get information. The data were analyzed by using structural linguistics, especially phonology, morphology, and semantics. This investigation informed several aspects of findings such as processes of cognates, back-formation, phonological variations, prefixes, clipping, derivation, acronym, loanword, blending, and metathesis of MSA, PLS and TNS. Using the Swadesh vocabulary list, the results of this study found 207 vocabularies for each language, such as MSA, Tunisian, and Palestinian. Using word categorization, it has found that these vocabularies have categorized into five words classes, namely, nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, determiner.
This article discusses the news of solidarity, partnership, and culture uploaded through the North Sulawesi digital newspaper platform which is read by the public. The purpose of this study is to identify events, and actions that indicate solidarity, partnership, and culture. The research method used is qualitative with qualitative theory. Multimodality analysis is used to reveal the ideational meaning contained in the verbal and visual modes, as well as the relationship between visual and verbal modes in constructing meaning or messages. The systemic Functional Linguistic approach specifically transitivity theory is used to reveal verbal mode messages. Visual grammar is used to reveal the message from the visual mode. The results of the study indicate that the verbal and visual modes of reporting represent solidarity, partnership, and culture in Indonesia. The diversity of ethnic groups, which have different customs, habits, and cultural values does not become a barrier to carrying out social activities together. This is manifested in acts of solidarity between tribes which are represented through helping activities in the community.
