Introduction Animal bites are a significant public health problem, with the majority of bites coming from dogs, cats and humans. These may presented as punctures, abrasions, tears, or avulsions [1]. In general, animals bite occur as a natural, instinctive behavior, especially when they feel threatened or try to get food. An animal bite can cause infection in victims (in both humans and other animals) [2]. One of the most important diseases transmitted by animal bites is rabies. Rabies is one of the most dangerous viral zoonosis, and all mammals can develop the disease [3, 4]. The cause of the disease is a viral nerve-related friend which is belonged to the Rhabdo virus family from the type of Lyssa virus. The disease is mainly transmitted through biting and sometimes through mucous tissue, respiratory tract, placenta, contaminated equipment and transplant organs [5, 6]. Rabies is found in two types of epidemiologic condition: of the city type that is principally released by dogs or rarely by cat species, and the wild type whose repository is wolf, fox, raccoon, weasel and bat because of its fatality, an increasing number of animal bites in human, the loss of livestock and economic damage that can produce by rabies, it is very important. About 97% of deaths from rabies are due to dog bite [7]. Rabies is one of the diseases that has been neglected. this disease is preventable by vaccine, and most deaths occur due to the lack of awareness and poor access to health care [8]. Also, animal bites have serious medical consequences such as the risk of rabies, stroke, wound infection and medical expenses for the health system [9, 10]. Background Given the strategic importance of the MENA, the state of war and inequity in the region and its effect on malnutrition which leads to mortality and reduced economic development in this region, the current study purposed to examine the prevalence of stunting as an indicator of chronic malnutrition in the MENA region, with consideration given HDI, rural/urban area, and war-involved countries. Methods The electronic databases of PubMed, SCOPUS, Web of science, and Embase were systematically searched, and English-language articles published between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019 were included in this study. The POLIS (population, outcome, location, indicator, study design) criteria were used to perform the systematic review, and studies involving children 2 to 18 years of age were selected. Results Fifty-eight (n = 2 202 869) were included based on the study's inclusion criteria. The prevalence of stunting in children in the total MENA region was 22.0% (95% confidence interval (CI) = 20.4-23.6; I 2 = 99.92%, P < 0.0001). The studies included in the meta-analysis were analyzed by subgroups. The pooled prevalence of stunting in children aged 2-5 years old and children aged 6 and older was 25.7% and 16.5%, respectively. The pooled prevalence of stunting was 34.1% in rural and 12.4% in urban areas. The pooled prevalence of stunting according to HDI was 30.1%, 28.5%, 13.1%, in low, medium, and high HDI countries, respectively. Furthermore, the pooled prevalence of stunting according to war status was 28.5% in war-involved countries vs 20.6% in others. Conclusions High prevalence of malnutrition was seen based on stunting indicator in the meta-analysis study in the MENA region, and this issue became more pronounced when the data was divided into subgroups based on age, residential area, and HDI. Inequality regarding social, economic, and political factors leads to significant malnutrition in the mentioned region.

<b><i>Background/Aims:</i></b> Quality of life (QOL) and Alzheimer disease (AD) among older people have been recognized as public health challenges. Here, we investigated the association between QOL and AD in the elders. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> In this cross-sectional study, elderly people were selected from urban health centers (Shiraz, Iran) by multistage cluster random sampling and were interviewed using LEIPAD (for QOL) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (for AD) questionnaires. The data was analyzed using Mplus (version 6.12) and IBM SPSS (version 25) software. <b><i>Results:</i></b> The participants consisted of 182 elderly with a mean age of 67 ± 5.05 years, and 95 (52.2%) of them were females. There were 161 (88.5%) and 130 (71.4%) cases educated up to 12 years and married, respectively. Furthermore, 46 (25.3%) had low-to-moderate QOL, and 132 (72.5%) were suspected to have AD. QOL was inversely associated with AD, and men (β = –0.310) were more affected than women (β = –0.290). AD (β = –0.298), age (β = –0.288), hypertension (β = –0.267), education (β = 0.260), and body mass index (β = –0.198) were determinants of QOL. Also, physical activity was indirectly associated with QOL (β = 0.076). AD was correlated with the cognitive functioning component of QOL (<i>r</i> = –0.72). <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> One elder out of 4, did not have desirable QOL and 3 elders out of 4 were suspected to have AD. AD can decrease QOL among the older people. Screening of the elders for AD is recommended to improve their QOL by health centers.

Introduction: Corona became a public health threat worldwide in late 2019, in which its main target is lower airway. The aim of this study was to calculate the mortality rate and years of life lost due to COVID-19 in Iran.Method: All definite deaths due to COVID-19 from February 20, 2020 to the February 12, 2021 have been used. Descriptive analyzes included mean and standard deviation of age at death, the number and sex ratio of deaths. Then the age and sex-specific mortality rate were calculated. YLL were calculated using the standard life expectancy based on the 2015 WHO life-table.Results: During the study period, 3169 (58.78% men and 41.22% women) definite coronary deaths occurred. The mean age at death was higher in women than men. The fatality rate of the disease was 1.83%. The highest number of years of life lost, according to both methods of YLL calculation, was in the age group of 69-60 years and the lowest was in the age group of 10-19 years.Conclusion: This study showed that due to the high mortality of this disease, decision makers should focus on reducing mortality in the start of the next waves of COVID-19.

Prevalence of type 2 diabetes raised by 1.5% from 2015 to 2016. An incidence of 1.9% was determined for 2016. Both prevalence and incidence were higher in women. Metformin 500 and Glibenclamide 5 had equal or more than fair power (>70%) to identify the number of patients with type 2 diabetes. The stepwise method yields a realistic estimation on prevalence and incidence of treated type 2 diabetes, using prescription data which is large-scale, cheap and realtime.
