With the advent of self-driving cars and autonomous robots, it is imperative to detect road impairments like cracks and potholes and to perform necessary evading maneuvers to ensure fluid journey for on-board passengers or equipment. We propose a fully autonomous robust real-time road crack and pothole detection algorithm which can be deployed on any GPU based conventional processing boards with an associated camera. The approach is based on a deep neural net architecture which detects cracks and potholes using texture and spatial features. We also propose pre-processing methods which ensure real-time performance. The novelty of the approach lies in using texturebased features to differentiate between crack surfaces and sound roads. The approach performs well in large viewpoint changes, background noise, shadows, and occlusion. The efficacy of the system is shown on standard road crack datasets.
A pothole is a depression caused on roads due to seepage of water into soil structure or weight of continuously moving traffic. This not only damages the suspension of the vehicles but is also a prime reason for road accidents worldwide. This necessitates the need to develop an efficient automatic pothole detection system which can assist concerned authorities for timely repair and maintenance of the roads. This paper proposes a novel approach of bounding box based pothole localization from thermal images using deep neural networks. The modified ResNet34-single shot multibox detector gives an average precision of 74.53% whereas modified ResNet50-RetinaNet model provides 91.15% precision. The results obtained by the proposed modified ResNet50-RetinaNet model are the state-of-the-art results for localization of potholes using thermal images. In real-world scenarios such a system can assist relevant authorities to judge the severity of road damage and take appropriate effective measures accordingly.
Abstract-We present an efficient path planning algorithm for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle surveying a cluttered urban landscape. A special emphasis is on maximizing area surveyed while adhering to constraints of the UAV and partially known and updating environment. A Voronoi bias is introduced in the probabilistic roadmap building phase to identify certain critical milestones for maximal surveillance of the search space. A kinematically feasible but coarse tour connecting these milestones is generated by the global path planner. A local path planner then generates smooth motion primitives between consecutive nodes of the global path based on UAV as a Dubins vehicle and taking into account any impending obstacles. A Markov Decision Process (MDP) models the control policy for the UAV and determines the optimal action to be undertaken for evading the obstacles in the vicinity with minimal deviation from current path. The efficacy of the proposed algorithm is evaluated in an updating simulation environment with dynamic and static obstacles.
In this paper represents the web design frameworks as a conceptual methodology to expend the probabilities reuse in Web applications. Firstly I have presented the importance for construction abstract and reusable directional design structures, demonstrating with different kinds of Web information Systems. Struts 2 is an elegant, extensible framework for creating enterprise ready web applications. It provides with a controller Servlet to manage and intercept the flow of requests. Hibernate Framework Technology as unique and well-organized resources to take immeasurable databases and also on how to implement persistent features in object-oriented system finished it. Java also consists of many useful APIs or Application Program Interfaces, some of which are mention in this paper. Java accepts a N-tier framework of MVC Model in platform and uses EJB, Struts WEB Framework and Hibernate technology.
