The purpose of this study is to identify the most important drivers for developing destination competitiveness of Bangladesh nature-based tourism by evaluating tourists' perception. A nationwide structured questionnaire survey of total 432 Bangladeshi tourists is carried out by dividing the whole country into two parts for equal representation. Based on this data, a profile of the tourists is constructed before ranking of attributes from most important to least important on a five-point Likert scale. An Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) has been conducted finally to identify the most important factors from 24 selected attributes related to nature-based tourism of Bangladesh. The key findings indicate that seven attributes are more important to respondents than others as all these has average importance value more than 4 out of 5 while only two is least important. From the EFA of these attributes, supported by a parallel analysis, four major factors are extracted namely, tourism infrastructure; historical and cultural attractors; natural attractors; and communication facilities and lifestyle similarities. Thus, this study will help both policy makers to develop long term destination policy focusing on natural attractors and service providers to customize their services according to tourists' expectation. Consequently, this paper conceptualizes the importance of focusing on specific sectors of tourism and the way of developing competitiveness of nature-based tourism of Bangladesh. However further studies can be conducted to match tourists' evaluation of attributes on importance and performance and/or evaluating same perception from service providers rather than tourists.
Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is relatively a novel concept in the parlance of Computational Offloading. MEC signifies the offloading of intensive computational tasks to the cloud which is generally positioned at the edge of a mobile network. Being in an embryonic stage of development, not much research has yet been done in this field despite its potential promises. However, with time the advantages are gaining growing attention and MEC is gradually taking over some of the resource-intensive functionalities of a traditional centralized cloud-based system. Another new idea called Task Caching is emerging rapidly with the offloading policy. This joint optimization idea of Task Offloading and caching is relatively a very new concept. It has been in use for reducing energy consumption and delay time for mobile edge computing. Due to the encouraging offshoots from some of the current research on the joint optimization problem, this research initiative aims to take the progress forward. The work improves upon the “prioritization of the tasks” by adopting a very practical approach discussed forward, and proposes a different way for Task Offloading and caching to the edge of the cloud, thereby bringing a significant enhancement to the QoS of MEC.
Improving software process to achieve high quality in a software development organization is the key factor to success. Bangladeshi software firms have not experienced much in this particular area in comparison to other countries. The ISO 9001 and CMM standard has become a basic part of software development. The main objectives of our study are: 1) To understand the software development process uses by the software developer firms in Bangladesh 2) To identify the development practices based on established quality standard and 3) To establish a standardized and coherent process for the development of software for a specific project. It is revealed from this research that software industries of Bangladesh are lacking in target set for software process and improvement, involvement of quality control activities, and standardize business expertise practice. This paper investigates the Bangladeshi software industry in the light of the above challenges.
This study aims to identify the current status and prospect of ride-sharing service in Bangladesh from the users’ perspective. Data has been collected through a survey questionnaire from a sample of 164 respondents and analyzed using simple descriptive statistics. Findings show that ride-sharing services are emerging rapidly in Bangladesh as an alternative to traditional transportation because people prefer flexibility, convenience, time savings, and ease of use. The young generation is the top user of this service as they well equipped with the technologies required for this gig economy. Currently, Uber and Pathao, only two companies hold more than three-quarter of the market share because of their first mover advantage and availability in both car and motorbike segments. Further growth of this service is expected if major problems like concern over safety and security can overcome. Thus, this study would be useful for companies understanding users’ perception and improving their service quality.
