This study aims to explore the students’ representations in solving Pythagorean theorem problems. Participants of this study consisted of a female student with reflectiv estyle and a female student with impulsive cognitive style. They had an equivalent mathematical ability. This study used the qualitative method. The researcher decides on the methods of data collection based on mathematical problem-solving tasks and task-based interviews. To obtain valid data, the researcher performs the time triangulation. The findings of the study showed that: (1) the mathematical representations of reflective student were (a)recognizingand presenting known and unknown information visually by sketching the car’s path, (b) revealing then formulating problem-solving strategy using visual representation, (c) revealing mathematical model manipulation involve Pythagorean theorem, and (d) looking back the solution by using verbal representation;(2) the mathematical representations of impulsive student were (a)recognizing then presenting known and unknown information verbally, (b) revealing then formulating a problem-solving strategy using visual representation, (c) revealing mathematical model manipulation by saying that the distance between point A and B can be determined using the Pythagorean theorem, and (d) looking back the solutions by using verbal representations.
Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan saintifik terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan one-group pretest-posttest design. Tempat dilaksanakannya penelitian ini yaitu di SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling dan diperoleh sampel yaitu kelas VIII H yang berjumlah 21 siswa. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa n-gain score berada pada kategori sedang yaitu 0,40, sedangkan hasil uji hipotesis diperoleh 16,965 lebih dari 2,086 yang berarti bahwa ditolak dan diterima. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendekatan saintifik terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Merauke. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) guru matematika SMP di kabupaten Merauke pada materi segiempat yang ditinjau dari segi gender. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek terdiri atas dua guru perempuan dan dua guru laki-laki. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu penyebaran kuesioner PCK dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu triangulasi teknik yang meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pengetahuan konten guru perempuan lebih baik daripada guru laki-laki. Untuk pengetahuan pedagogik keempat guru menunjukkan penguasaan tentang kurikulum dan kemampuan siswanya dengan sangat baik. Namun terkait rencana pembelajaran masing-masing guru memiliki rencana yang berbeda, ada yang menyusun RPP berdasarkan anjuran Kemendikbud 2020 dan ada pula yang menyusun RPP berdasarkan Kurikulum 2013, namun inti pembelajarannya sama, menggunakan metode pembelajaran diskusi dan tanya jawab untuk mengeksplorasi pengetahuan dan menemukan penyelesaian. Untuk pelaksanaan pembelajaran baik guru laki-laki maupun guru perempuan sama-sama representasi berupa benda-benda di sekitar siswa dengan harapan siswa dapat lebih mudah memahami materi bangun segiempat. Untuk pengetahuan terkait teknik evaluasi pembelajaran, baik guru laki-laki maupun guru perempuan memiliki pengetahuan dalam penilaian proses dan hasil belajar yang baik dengan mempertimbangkan tingkat pemahaman dan kemampuan siswa.
This research aims to describe the process of formulating in mathematical literacy in solving the PISA-like problem viewed from cognitive style. In this research, two subjects were selected based on the math ability test, GEFT test, and the same sex. The results showed that in solving the PISA-like mathematics problems in the process of formulating, students with a cognitive field-dependent style were able to identify the information needed to solve the problem by mentioning information that was known and asked about the problem and tending to use the sentence in the question. Students are able to represent a problem mathematically using verbal representations, symbols, images, variables, formulas, diagrams and mathematical models that are appropriate, but not capable of visually representing a 3-D model into a 2-D model. While students in the cognitive field independent style in solving the PISA model problem in the process of formulating, students are able to identify the information needed to solve the problem by mentioning information that is known and asked about the problem and tends to use their own language. Students are able to represent a problem mathematically using verbal representations, symbols, images, variables, formulas/formulas, diagrams, and appropriate modeling, and are capable of visually representing 3-D models into 2-D models.
