case study pipe bend subjected to combined loads: A comparative finite element analysis and experimental Flexural behaviour of a polyvinyl chloride-lined glass-reinforced plastic composite multi-mitred Published by: http://www.sagepublications.com On behalf of: Institution of Mechanical Engineers can be found at: The Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design Additional services and information for Abstract:The exural behaviour of a glass-reinforced plastic (GR P) multi-mitred pipe bend (MM PB) subjected to combined in-plane bending and internal pressure is presented in this paper. After construction of a polyvinyl chloride (PVC)-lined G R P M MPB, its behaviour subjected to in-plane bending, internal pressure and combined internal pressure and in-plane bending was studied. Smalland large-displacement laminated shell nite element analysis (F EA) results using ABAQU S F E were compared with experiments on an identical specimen. When modelling an M MPB subject to individually applied pressure and bending loads, comparisons exhibited good agreement between linear small-displacement F EA with experimental data. Only large-displacement F EA agreed with experiments when modelling M M PBs subject to combined pressure and bending loads. Largedisplacement F EA showed geometrically non-linear behaviour closely matching the experimental trends.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations鈥揷itations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
