Internet of Things (IoT) is a new paradigm that has changed the traditional way of living into a high tech life style. Smart city, smart homes, pollution control, energy saving, smart transportation, smart industries are such transformations due to IoT. A lot of crucial research studies and investigations have been done in order to enhance the technology through IoT. However, there are still a lot of challenges and issues that need to be addressed to achieve the full potential of IoT. These challenges and issues must be considered from various aspects of IoT such as applications, challenges, enabling technologies, social and environmental impacts etc. The main goal of this review article is to provide a detailed discussion from both technological and social perspective. The article discusses different challenges and key issues of IoT, architecture and important application domains. Also, the article bring into light the existing literature and illustrated their contribution in different aspects of IoT. Moreover, the importance of big data and its analysis with respect to IoT has been discussed. This article would help the readers and researcher to understand the IoT and its applicability to the real world.
Background Road and traffic accidents are uncertain and unpredictable incidents and their analysis requires the knowledge of the factors affecting them. Road and traffic accidents are defined by a set of variables which are mostly of discrete nature. The major problem in the analysis of accident data is its heterogeneous nature [1]. Thus heterogeneity must be considered during analysis of the data otherwise, some relationship between the data may remain hidden. Although, researchers used segmentation of the data to reduce this heterogeneity using some measures such as expert knowledge, but there is no guarantee that this will lead to an optimal segmentation which consists of homogeneous groups of road accidents [2]. Therefore, cluster analysis can assist the segmentation of road accidents. Cluster analysis which is an important data mining technique can be used as a preliminary task to achieve various goals. Karlaftis and Tarko [3] used cluster analysis to categorize the accident data into different categories and further analyzed cluster results using Negative Binomial (NB) to identify the impact of driver age on road accidents.
Data mining has been proven as a reliable technique to analyze road accidents and provide productive results. Most of the road accident data analysis use data mining techniques, focusing on identifying factors that affect the severity of an accident. However, any damage resulting from road accidents is always unacceptable in terms of health, property damage and other economic factors. Sometimes, it is found that road accident occurrences are more frequent at certain specific locations. The analysis of these locations can help in identifying certain road accident features that make a road accident to occur frequently in these locations. Association rule mining is one of the popular data mining techniques that identify the correlation in various attributes of road accident. In this paper, we first applied k-means algorithm to group the accident locations into three categories, high-frequency, moderate-frequency and low-frequency accident locations. k-means algorithm takes accident frequency count as a parameter to cluster the locations. Then we used association rule mining to characterize these locations. The rules revealed different factors associated with road accidents at different locations with varying accident frequencies. The association rules for high-frequency accident location disclosed that intersections on highways are more dangerous for every type of accidents. High-frequency accident locations mostly involved two-wheeler accidents at hilly regions. In moderate-frequency accident locations, colonies near local roads and intersection on highway roads are found dangerous for pedestrian hit accidents. Low-frequency accident locations are scattered throughout the district and the most of the accidents at these locations were not critical. Although the data set was limited to some selected attributes, our approach extracted some useful hidden information from the data which can be utilized to take some preventive efforts in these locations.
The recent advancements in Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) transformed the conventional healthcare system into smart healthcare. By incorporating key technologies such as IoT and AI, medical services can be improved. The convergence of IoT and AI offers different opportunities in healthcare sector. In this view, the current research article presents a new AI and IoT convergence-based disease diagnosis model for smart healthcare system. The major goal of this article is to design a disease diagnosis model for heart disease and diabetes using AI and IoT convergence techniques. The presented model encompasses different stages namely, data acquisition, preprocessing, classification, and parameter tuning. IoT devices such as wearables and sensors permit seamless data collection while AI techniques utilize the data in disease diagnosis. The proposed method uses Crow Search Optimization algorithm-based Cascaded Long Short Term Memory (CSO-CLSTM) model for disease diagnosis. In order to achieve better classification of the medical data, CSO is applied to tune both 'weights' and 'bias' parameters of CLSTM model. Besides, isolation Forest (iForest) technique is employed in this research work to remove the outliers. The application of CSO helps in considerable improvement in the diagnostic outcomes of CLSTM model. The performance of CSO-LSTM model was validated using healthcare data. During the experimentation, the presented CSO-LSTM model accomplished the maximum accuracies of 96.16% and 97.26% in diagnosing heart disease and diabetes respectively. Therefore, the proposed CSO-LSTM model can be employed as an appropriate disease diagnosis tool for smart healthcare systems.

These emotions can be positive, negative and neutral. All these emotions may come from a travel trip, restaurant trip, exhibitions, movies, elections, hospital visits etc. These emotions carries some hidden information related to comfort/discomfort in related areas. Hence, there is a good scope of analyzing this information to detect the patterns of the emotions. This analysis can help us to understand the emotions of the people in respective domain and the reasons behind it.Air travel is one of the most convenient mode for long distance travel at both national and international level [2]. There are many airline service providers (ASPs) around the world. The competitive world motivates the airlines company to attract the customers. AbstractCustomer's experience is one of the important concern for airline industries. Twitter is one of the popular social media platform where flight travelers share their feedbacks in the form of tweets. This study presents a machine learning approach to analyze the tweets to improve the customer's experience. Features were extracted from the tweets using word embedding with Glove dictionary approach and n-gram approach. Further, SVM (support vector machine) and several ANN (artificial neural network) architectures were considered to develop classification model that maps the tweet into positive and negative category. Additionally, convolutional neural network (CNN) were developed to classify the tweets and the results were compared with the most accurate model among SVM and several ANN architectures. It was found that CNN outperformed SVM and ANN models. In the end, association rule mining have been performed on different categories of tweets to map the relationship with sentiment categories. At present times, COVID-19 has become a global illness and infected people has increased exponentially and it is difficult to control due to the non-availability of large quantity of testing kits. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques including machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and computer vision (CV) approaches find useful for the recognition, analysis, and prediction of COVID-19. Several ML and DL techniques are trained to resolve the supervised learning issue. At the same time, the potential measure of the unsupervised learning technique is quite high. Therefore, unsupervised learning techniques can be designed in the existing DL models for proficient COVID-19 prediction. In this view, this paper introduces a novel unsupervised DL based variational autoencoder (UDL-VAE) model for COVID-19 detection and classification. The UDL-VAE model involved adaptive Wiener filtering (AWF) based preprocessing technique to enhance the image quality. Besides, Inception v4 with Adagrad technique is employed as a feature extractor and unsupervised VAE model is applied for the classification process. In order to verify the superior diagnostic performance of the UDL-VAE model, a set of experimentation was carried out to highlight the effective outcome of the UDL-VAE model. The obtained experimental values showcased the effectual results of the UDL-VAE model with the higher accuracy of 0.987 and 0.992 on the binary and multiple classes respectively.
