Carbon fibre (C) and adsorbent prepared from fluorinated carbon fibre (FC) have been studied by adsorption and gas chromatography (GC). An extreme growth in the specific surface area of C was observed as a result of fluorination, although the homogeneity of FC was increased in comparison to that of C. Heats and standard adsorption entropies for a number of compounds have been measured by GC. It was shown that the FC sample was characterized by a highly hydrophobic and chemically homogeneous surface of low polarity.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
