Prolactinoma, the most common secretory pituitary tumor, is found in 100 patients per million. It is responsible for impaired reproductive function in both sexes. Its treatment in the context of fertility restoration gives very satisfactory results. The natural history of these tumors in the gestational period is variable depending on their size with a clinically significative risk ranging from 5 to 30%. Their management is complex, requiring evaluation of the effects of pregnancy on tumor growth and the effects of therapy on embryonic and fetal development. We report the case of 23years patient with a macroprolactinoma and the successful outcome of this tumor during the pregnancy.
We report a case of small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of laryngeal localization. The involvement of the larynx still exceptional. We present in this paper the radiological, pathological and therapeutic aspects of this tumor that was diagnosed in a 48-year-old man.
The number of patients treated with insulin has increased steadily over the last few decades, and the product has undergone several changes since its invention, mainly with the modification of its structure to allow for greater efficiency and form with the appearance of insulin pens. Despite this, many people with diabetes fail to reach their glycemic targets. One of the reasons for this is errors in insulin injection technique. These errors are numerous but underestimated because they are less well understood, but fortunately they are easily corrected once detected. This requires a good education of the patient on the injection technique, which can already solve part of the diabetes imbalance.
Disorders of sexual differentiation in 46, XY patients cover a wide spectrum of clinical pictures (female phenotype, posterior hypospadias, cryptorchidism). Their causes are varied and affect the stages of testicular determination (gonadal dysgenesis) or defects in testosterone production or action (testosterone secretion abnormalities, androgen insensitivity, 5⍺-reductase deficiency). They require rational and rapid management, within a multidisciplinary team. We report a rare case of this disorder in a patient of 18 years with the therapeutic obstacles that we faced in its management.
Plurihormonal Pituitary adenoma is defined as an adenoma that expresses more than one hormone on immunohistochemistry. The most common combination in these adenomas includes growth hormone (GH) and prolactin (PRL). We describe an interesting case of plurihormonal pituitary adenoma with double hormonal staining for adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) and GH in a patient who presented with acromegaly and subtle signs of Cushing disease due to a large pituitary macroadenoma
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
