“Waste” Jute Fiber, an agricultural “waste” by-product was converted into an effective adsorbent and the same was tested for the removal of Malathion pesticide from aqueous solution. The prepared activated Jute fiber carbon (JFC) was characterized by using Scanning Electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Elemental analyzer and proximate analysis methods. Adsorption equilibrium, kinetics, thermodynamics and mass transfer studies were investigated as a function of agitation time, adsorbent dose, pH and temperature. The adsorption data obtained are found to obey Langmuir isotherm model. The adsorption kinetics was analyzed by using pseudo first order, pseudo second order and Elovich models. Thermodynamic parameters of adsorption process, i.e. ?G, ?S and ?H were computed and their negative values indicate the adsorption was exothermic and spontaneous nature.

Adsorption of the monocrotophos pesticide from aqueous solution using "waste" jute fiber (JF) has been investigated. Adsorption equilibrium, kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transfer studies were investigated as a function of agitation time, adsorbent dose, pH, and temperature. The adsorption kinetics were analyzed by using pseudofirst-order and pseudosecond-order kinetic equations. The adsorption isotherm data were fitted well by the Langmuir isotherm model, and the adsorption capacity was found to be 124 mg • L -1 . Thermodynamic parameters of the adsorption process, that is, ∆G, ∆S, and ∆H, were calculated, and their negative values indicate the adsorption was exothermic and had a spontaneous nature. The effective diffusion coefficients were calculated with respect to the variation in concentration and temperature. A single-stage batch adsorption process was also designed by using the adsorption isotherm data.

Chemically activated “Waste” Jute Fiber carbon has been effectively used for the removal of five organophosphorous pesticides (malathion, monocrotophos, methylparathion, phosphamidon and dimethoate) from aqueous solutions. The prepared activated jute fiber carbon was characterized by using Elemental analyzer and proximate analysis methods. The adsorption equilibrium was examined at 28ºC. Three different kinetic models, the pseudo first order, pseudo second order and Elovich kinetic models were selected to analyses the adsorption process. To compare the fitness of pseudo first order and pseudo second order, sum of the squares of the errors and correlation coefficient, r2values were calculated. The Elovich model was used to confirm the chemisorptions.

The main problem of the textile industries are releasing the massive amount of dyes in river or other water system. Owing to this badly behaviour results in contamination of underground water and damaging the entire ecological system. The main challenge is treatment of the polluted water without damage of environment. Over the past years, numerous techniques for the treatment of textile wastewater including of membrane filtration [1], ozonation [2], biosorption [3], electro coagulation [4], photo catalytic removal [5], coagulation and flocculation [6], electrochemical precipitation [7]. Nevertheless, these methods having some inadequacy to remove the dyes from wastewater. Nowadays, adsorption technique is a well-known method for the treatment of wastewater from dyes and heavy metals. At present, adsorption techniques have been considered owing to the low cost, ease of operation and less amount of residue. The dyes can be efficiently removed by adsorption technique in, which the liquefied dyes attached themselves to the adsorbent surface. Several adsorbents have been used for removal of dyes from aqueous solution. The adsorbents such as recycled alum sludge [8], waste coir pith [9], fir wood [10], rotton saw dust [11], fly ash [12], coconut shells [13], activatedWe report in present work the simple procedure to synthesize ball clay-manganese dioxide (MnO2) nanocomposites. The as-synthesized nanocomposites were characterized using powder XRD, FT-IR, SEM, TEM and BET surface area, respectively. Recently the explorations of clay modification for developing the adsorbent ability to get rid of the toxins from water. The XRD result indicates that the nanocomposite was crystalline in nature. The FTIR spectra showed that the native ball clay was successfully converted to ball clay-MnO2 nanocomposites, which were identified by the change in peaks. The SEM images of the ball clay-MnO2 nanocomposites showed that development in surface area. The TEM images indicated that the size of the nanoparticle. The study demonstrates the facile synthesis of nano-sizedfullerene-like carbon balls named as nano carbon spheres (NCS) and its application for the effective adsorption of a textile dye Rhodamine-B (Rh-B) from the stimulated solution at laboratory scale. The essential controlling factors like pH of the effluent, initial Rh-B concentration and the solution temperature are investigated. The kinetics follows multi-order and Freundlich type of isotherm. The sorption energy-related parameters like ∆G, ∆H and ∆S were also evaluated. The outcome signposts that NCS is a potential material for the sorption of Rh-B with good efficiency.
