Mismatch between the real and imaginary channels of a complex system is examined and equations are presented that show the relationship between mismatch and image re'ection. An example is given that demonstrates the effects ofl mismatch on the properties of a complex filter. These results are a plied to the design of a fourth-order complex bandpass AZ mogulator and a technique is discussed that alleviates the negative effects of mismatch on modulator performance. The technique modifies a modulator's noise transfer function by placing a notch in its ima e band, giving an SNR performance im rovement of a roximate7y 15dB (2.5 bits) over an unmodifieg modulator. #e practical implementation of this technique is discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
