Alkohol ein Gemisch von 4.8 g [Dimethoxy~p~enoxy]-essigsaure-~thylester und 2.3 g Benzylcyanid und erwlirmt 2 Stdn. a d dem Wasserbade. Die Flwgkeit fiirbt siJl bald rotbraun und triibt sich dann durch Ausscheidung eines weil3en Krystallbreis, der sich schliefilich in Krusten absetzt. Nach dem Erkalten versetzt man mit vie1 Wasser, athert aus und sauert die dunkel rotbraune, waBrige Iiisung mit verd. EssigGure an. Es entsteht eine starke, milchige Triibung, die sich bald zu einem dunkelgelben 01 zusammenballt, das nach einigem Stehen erstarrt. Am verd. Methylalkohol umkrystallisiert : Hellgelbe Krystalle, die bei 107O unt. Zers. schmelzen. Nach der -4nalyse liegt ein Monohydrat des gesuchten Nitrils vor: 0.6318 g Sbst. gaben bei 78O und 22 mm 0.0344 g HIO ab. -0.1107 g Sbst.: 0.2663 g C02, 0.0603 g H,O. -0.1206 g Sbst.: 0.2898 g CO,, 0.0646 g H,O. -0.1889 g Sbst.: 7.32 ccm N (zzo, 758 mm). Die bekannten Atom-Wanderungen bei Oxim-Derivaten Jut G. Schroeter6) auf die Umlagerungs-Tendenz intermediar gebildeter ,,I, iic ke n -M ol e kiile" mit einwertigem Stickstoff zuriickgefiibrt, entsprechend dem Schema; indem als seinerzeit neues Beweismaterial fiir diese Hypothese die Umwand 1 un ge n vo n Ke t ond i a z i d e n R,C (NJ, herangezogen wurden, welche letzteren beim Erwarmen in indifferenten Losungsmitteln unter Abspaltung von I Mol. I309sich in 1. c. dargelegter Weise zu Tetrazolen kondensieren, entsprechend dem Schema:Die Keton-diazide sind seinerzeit nicht abgetrennt worden, sondern in der gleichen Losung, in' welcher die Umsetzung der Retochloride mit den Azidsalzen (N,Ag, N,Na) erfolgte, wurde durch Emarmen auch die Stickstoff-Abspaltung usw. herbeigefiihrt. Nach Versuchen, die Dr. S. Gotzky im biesigen Institut ausgefiihrt hat, gelingt es aber leicht, z. B. aus Benzophenonchlorid mit Silberazid in Ather bei guter Ausbeute das Benzophenon-diazid (C,H,),C(N,), als sehr krystallisations-fiihigen (Schmp. 420), in kleiner Menge sogar destillierbaren Koqkr zu isolieren und mit dieser reinen Substanz die Umwandlung in Diphenyl-tetrazol nach obigem Schema durchzufiihren, woruber Hr. Bei Untersuchungen iiber die chemische Wirksamkeit der Rontgen-Strahlen stellte es sich als vorteilhaft heraus, einenstoff zu verwenden, der in einfacher, reproduzierbarer Reaktion unter dcm EinfluB der Strahlen ein Gas abspaltet. Hier erschien ein Versuch mit Benzophenon-d iazid aussichtsreich. Dieser Korper spaltet tatsachlich bei der Bestrahlung Stickstoff ab, woriiber gemeinsam mit G. Cronheim und Paul Gunther an anderer Stelle berichtet werden soll. Hier sei einiges iiber die Darstellung dieses Korpers und seine chemischen Eigenschaften m-tgeteilt. Bei den Untersuchungen von G. Schroeterl) uber die Umwandlungen der Keton-diazide wurden diese Korper nicht isoliert. In der gleichen Losung, in der z. B. die Umsetzung von Benzophenonchlorid mit Azidsalzen (AgN,, NaN,) erfolgte, wurde auch durch Erwarmen die Stickstoff-Abspaltung und Umlagerung in N , a-Diphenyl-tetrazol, im folgenden kurz Diphenyltetrazol genannt, durchgefiihrta). Es ist jetzt aber gelungen, durch Umsetzung eitler atherischen Losung von Benzophenonchlorid mit Silberazid das Benzophenon-diazid in sehr guter Ausbeute als ~o h l krystallisierenden Rorper (Schmp. 42O) rein darzustellen. Zum Konstitutions-Beweis wurde die reine Substanz in amylatherischer Wsung unter Durchleiten von Kohlendioxyd crwarmt, wobei bei ca. 12oO die Stickstoff-Entwicklung begann und in 2 Stdn. beendet war. Die Menge des aufgefangenen Stickstoffs und des isolierten Tetrazols entsprach einer fast quantitativen Reaktion im Sinne der Gleichung : Das Benzophenon-diazid ist wider Erwarten recht stabil. Seine Schlagempfindlichkeit ist nur wenig grofier als die der Pikrinsaure, wie durch Mefiversuche am Kastschen Fallhammer in der Chemisch-technischen Reichsanst a l t festgestellt mrde. Es schmilzt unzersetzt. Die Bestandigkeit gegen Erwarmung geht allerdings nicht so weit, daI3 es beim Vakuum einer Wasserstrahlpumpe unzersetzt destilliert werden konnte. Das Destillat besteht in diesem Falle aus Diphenyl-tetrazol. Wiihrend das Benzophenondiazid beim Kochen rnit Wasser und verd. Natronlauge wie andere h i d e 3 ) unverkndert bleibt, tritt bei lkngerem Kochen mit M e t h y l a l k~h o l~) glatte Umsetzung zum Dimethylacetal des Benzophenons ein, das durch Schmp. (107~) und Misch-Schmp. (107~) identifiziert worden ist. Die gleiche Umsetzung findet auch schon bei Zimmer-Temperatur bei mehrtagigem Stehen einer methylalkohol. Losung von Benzophenon-diazid statt . Gegen Sauren ist das Benzophenon-diazid sehr empfindli~h~). Konz. Schwefelsaure z. B. wirkt bereits in der Rdte rnit explosions-artiger Heftigkeit ein.
