Methods of normalizing the thermal expansions that occur in turbo units of different powers are considered. A modern solution for the assembly of sleeve joints using a hydraulic instrument to increase the vibration reliability is proposed. The measures described for repairing turbo units enable the amount of effort and time of subsequent capital repairs to be reduced considerably for relatively low initial costs. The normalization of the thermal expansions of the cylinder casings of steam turbo units is one of the most important problems in power engineering. As is well known, disruption of the thermal expansion of the cylinders of steam turbines manifests itself in a sudden displacement of the bearing casings, increased twisting of the crossbars of the frames of the foundations and of the slopes of the bearing casings, nonreturn of the cylinders to the initial position after complete cooling off, an increase in vibrations, wear of the radial and axial cylinder gaskets, and damaged bearings [1 -3].The Kashira GRÉS has always devoted considerable attention to this problem, and hence, when carrying out capital repairs to all the turbines during the past 12 years, work has been carried out to normalize thermal expansions, namely, -diagnostics using specialized measuring instruments; -equalization of the support loads of the cylinder bodies, taking into account the effect of the connected steam pipes before centering the circulation section, and then after closing the cylinders;-installing metal-Teflon tape on the base of the bearing casings (technology for carrying out the work was developed), finishing on a lathe of the bases of the supports during capital repairs; scraping of the surface of the foundation of the frames with monitoring that they join properly to the support surfaces; coating of the surface of the foundation frames, facing the metal-Teflon belts, and protection from corrosion with a layer of high-temperature VNIINP-501 grease;-the use of a high-temperature galvanic solid-greased coating of the longitudinal splines of the front and middle bearing casings; protection of the gaps under the splines with high-temperature VNIINP-501 plastic grease;-reconstruction of the transverse and vertical splines with an arrangement of changeable inserts.Usually, each year before a planned repair, the turbines are inspected using special instruments for detecting thermal expansions of the cylinders. The SDART diagnostic system, used by the VTI, contains sensors of the inclination of the bearing units and of the crossbars of the transverse frames of the foundation, sensors of the linear expansion of the bearing units with respect to the foundation frames and feet and of the transverse splines, and converters of the temperature of the cylinder body metal. The SDART diagnostic system enables information to be acquired weekly and displays it in the form of graphs in real time using a central system unit.As an example, we show in Fig. 1 graphs of the displacement and tilt of the middle support when the turbine is stopped w...
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
