This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of supplementation of exogenous enzymes in broiler diets that includes fermented canola meal on performance, nutrient digestibility, biochemical indication, antioxidative capacity, digestive enzyme activity, immune responses, and gut health. Five hundred 1-day-old Ross 308 broiler chicks were randomly allocated into five experimental groups (5 replicate/group), the first group: a control (CON) contained a basal diet, and the second to the fifth groups were fed diets as follows: containing 20% canola meal (CM), contains 20% fermented canola meal (FCM), contains 20% canola meal and exogenous enzymes at 0.02%/kg feed (ECM), and contains 20% fermented canola meal and exogenous enzymes at 0.02%/kg feed (EFC), respectively. At the finisher phase, the best body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, and nutrient utilization were associated with chickens fed EFC compared to other groups (P < 0.05). Total protein, albumin, alanine aminotransferase, and superoxide dismutase levels increased (P < 0.05), while cholesterol and malondialdehyde levels decreased in chickens fed on EFC. Likewise, there was a significant increase in the relative weight of the bursa of Fabricius and antibody titer against Newcastle disease, whereas the weight of abdominal fat decreased in the EFC group compared to other groups. Furthermore, there was a significant improvement in the activity of lipase and amylase enzymes (P < 0.05) in the EFC group. Fermented canola meal addition improved gut health (decreased Escherichia coli, increased Lactobacillus, and the highest values of villus height). Overall, these results confirmed that supplementing a fermented canola meal diet with exogenous enzymes improved growth performance through enhancing nutrient digestibility, immunity, antioxidant capacity, and gut health. Thus, adding enzymes to a diet containing fermented canola meal can be recommended as an alternative protein source that could be safely used to replace up to 20% soybean meal in broiler diets.

To investigate the effect of antibiotics and/or probiotics on performance, some serum metabolites, cecum microflora composition, and ileum histomorphology in broilers under the Egyptian conditions. Design: Randomized controlled experimental study. Animals: Two hundred forty 1-day-old Ross (308) chicks were reared till 35 days of age. Procedures: The birds were randomly allocated into four main groups: a control diet without additives (CON); probiotic (Lactobacillus acidophilus) supplemented diet (PRO); antibiotic (Avilamycin) supplemented diet (ANT) and a mix group (AP) that received antibiotic in the diet form 1 to 4 days of age and treated during the rest of the experimental period with probiotics. Results: Chickens fed on probiotic or antibiotic diets had linear improvement in live body weight (LBW) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) compared with the control group, while the best LBW and FCR were in the AP group. An improvement in the nutrient digestibility was observed in the probiotic added groups (PRO and AP). Serum cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol contents decreased when antimicrobial (probiotic or antibiotic) supplementations were used, while there was an increase in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol contents, serum total protein, and albumin levels. Among all groups, cecum Clostridium perfringens and Escherichia coli counts decreased; however, there was an increase in Lactobacillus count compared to the control group. In probiotic supplemented groups (PRO and AP), a significant (P<0.05) improvement in ilea architecture. Conclusion and clinical relevance:Using probiotic after initial treatment with an antibiotic in broiler diets had a positive effect on broiler growth performance, gut health (improved cecum microbial populations and ileum histomorphology), and nutrient digestibility.

total of 105 Dokki-4 laying hens, 24 weeks of age were used to study utilization of dry corn grains distillation by-product with soluble (DDGS) as an alternative non-conventional feed stuff in laying hen diets. Hens were divided equally into seven treatment groups, three levels of DDGS (20, 25 and 30 %) without or with enzyme (1g enzyme/kg diet), in addition to8 control group. Each group contains five replicates with 3 birds each. Egg production and egg weight were recorded and egg mass was calculated daily during 24 to 36 weeks of age. Random samples of 5 eggs from each treatment were collected weekly to measure egg quality. Results showed that proximate analysis for DDGS yielded values of 93.72% for dry matter (DM), 21.74% for crude protein (CP), 6.74% for ether extract (EE), 6.54 % for crude fiber (CF) and 5.93% for ash. Hens fed diet containing 20 % DDGS recorded the highest (P ≤ 0.05) egg production, egg weight, egg mass, lowest feed consumption and the best feed conversion ratio (FCR), values were 76.32%, 43.15g, 32.91g/ hen/ day, 99.02g/ hen /day and 3.06 g feed/g egg, respectively. Supplementation of enzyme to diets containing DDGS had significant effect on egg production, egg weight, egg mass, feed consumption and FCR. Concerning to the interaction between DDGS level and enzyme supplied, hen fed 20 % DDGS with enzyme recorded values similar to hen feed control diet. Albumen wt. %, yolk wt. %, shell wt. %, shape index and yolk index, were not affected by DDGS level, on the other hand Haugh unit and shell thickness were insignificantly affected by DDGS level. The interaction between DDGS level and enzyme supplied effect on egg quality except shell thickness had not. The best value for economical efficiency and relative economical efficiency had been recorded by hen fed on control diet (0.50 and 100%) followed by 20 % DDGS with 1 g enzyme / kg diet (0.45 and 90 %). The present study show that DDGS could be used in layer diets up to 20% with 1 g enzyme / kg diet without adverse effect on performance of laying hens and egg quality.
