L-Thiazolidincarbonsäure-(4) (TAC) hat sich als gutes Substrat für die parenterale Ernährung erwiesen. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht den Stoffwechsel dieser Substanz in der Ratte auf subzellulärer Ebene. TAC wird durch die mitochondriale Prolinoxidase von Leber und Niere, ein Flavinenzym mit Ubichinon als Elektronenakzeptor, zur Thiazolincarbonsäure-(4) oxidiert, die dann zu N-Formylcystein (FCYS) hydrolysiert wird. FCYS wird im Zytosol enzymatisch in Ameisensäure und Cystein gespalten.
