The yield of Tinda in respon se to the effect of organic manures and inorganic fertilizers was evaluated at the Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu during March-May, 2015. More number of fruits (14.41), highest single fruit weight (50.68g) and highest yield per plant (722.69g) were obtained with treatments comprising 75 per cent recommended dose of fertilizers package coupled with vermicompost @ 2t ha-1 along with Azospirillum and phosphobacteria @ 2 kg ha-1 .
: A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of organic manures and inorganic fertilizers on growth parameters in Tinda. There were 13 treatments comprised of organic manures viz., FYM (25 t ha -1 ), vermicompost (2.5 t ha -1 ), neemcake (1000 kg ha
: The present study effect of different planting density on growth parameters of moringa for leaf production (Moringa oleifera Lam.) was carried out during (Feb.-Dec.) 2016 in the vegetable field unit, Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar. The treatment consisted of five different planting density viz.,T 1 (45 x 45cm), T 2 (60 x 60cm), T 3 (75 x 75cm), T 4 (90 x 90cm) and T 5 (120 x 120cm). Among the five different treatments, the treatment T 5 (120 x 120cm) recorded highest value for plant height, number of branches, number of leaves and stem girth.
:The present study effect of various drying methods on the quality of moringa leaf powder (Moringa oleifera Lam.) was carried out during (Feb.-Dec.) 2016-17 in the post harvest technology lab. Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar. The experiment was laid out in Completely Randomized Block Design with four treatments and five replications. The moringa leaves were dried into powder under four different drying methods viz., T 1 (outdoor drying), T 2 (indoor drying), T 3 (oven drying) and T 4 (microwave drying). Among the different treatments T 3 (oven drying) recorded high powder yield and also recorded highest value for iron and zinc content. The treatment T 2 (indoor drying) recorded high powder yield, besides the same treatment also recorded highest value for beta-carotene and ascorbic acid.
The present field experiment was carried out with Knolkhol cv. EARLY WHITE VIENNA in a Randomized Block Design with three replications at Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Annamalai University during 2015. The experiment comprised of 10 different combinations of five different sources of nutrients including organic, inorganic and biofertilizers. The effect of different treatments were observed and noted that plants treated with 50 per cent RDF + VC @ 5 t ha-¹ + biofertilizers @ 2 kg ha-¹ (T 3) registered maximum growth parameters viz., plant height, number of leaves per plant, leaf length, leaf width, root length and number of secondary roots in knolkhol cv. EARLY WHITE VIENNA.
