Abstract. Scheduling is a very tedious task in organizations where duty is around the clock. Constructing timetable for nurses in hospital is one of the challenging jobs for the head nurse or nurse manager. It requires a lot of time to spend for generating a good and fair timetable. Thus, in this study, we propose a cyclical nurse scheduling model using a 0-1 goal programming that would help the head nurse or nurse manager to have less effort on building new schedules periodically. The proposed model satisfies the stated hospital's policies and the nurses' preferences. The result obtained from this model gives an optimal solution where all goals are achieved. The model also provides an unbiased way of scheduling the nurses and thus leads to an overall higher satisfaction and fairness to the nurses and the hospital management.
Studies on the acceptance of Unified Communications and Collaboration (UC&C) tools such as instant messaging and video conferencing have been around for some time. Adoption and acceptance of UC&C tools and services has boosted productivity and improved communications by integrating voice, video and data into one platform. UC&C also allows collaboration by enabling users to interact with each other in different media. However, their acceptance rate by individual in developing nations has been low. It is hypothesized that the factors that contribute to acceptance are developed based on two underlying theories. The first is that of diffusion of innovation and the other is that of service dominant logic. Items is constructed based on eight constructs which are relative advantage, compatibility, ease of use, trialability, observability, improved service, value co-creation capacity, and coordination efficiency. In order to validate the items, content validity ratios are calculated on a set of questionnaire. The ratios will determine which items should be included or removed from the questionnaire. The paper concludes with a discussion on the implications of the findings from the experts' evaluation and also from the content validity ratios. The new items are used in designing the survey instrument to measure the acceptance of UC&C.
ABSTRAK Proses peningkatan kualiti di setiap jabatan kerajaan akan dapat berjalan lancar dan berterusan dengan sokongan sistem pengukuran prestasi kualiti yang baik. Pengukuran prestasi merupakan satu kaedah penting yang menyokong keberkesanan program, membantu dalam penghasilan keputusan dan meningkatkan keberkesanan dalam komunikasi. Terdapat pelbagai faktor diambil kira dalam sistem pengukuran prestasi (SPP) sedia ada. Walau bagaimanapun, faktor sedia ada hanya bersifat kontekstual yang sesuai untuk keperluan persekitaran atau organisasi tertentu sahaja. Keadaan ini menyebabkan pembangun SPP tidak mempunyai satu model rujukan umum yang boleh dijadikan panduan untuk membangunkan SPP. Justeru satu model generik yang memenuhi keperluan ini perlu dibangunkan. Dengan menggunakan kaedah penyegitigaan berlelar yang bersandar kepada kajian kes yang diperoleh dari kajian kesusasteraan, faktor yang dikenalpasti kemudiannya dikelaskan berdasar kepada model nilai cipta-sama DART (Dialog, Akses, Risiko dan Telus). Model DART dipilih kerana ia merupakan satu model yang telah terbukti berkesan dalam menerap konsep nilai cipta sama yang merupakan satu konsep penting dalam pembangunan sistem. Model nilai cipta sama bagi SPP yang dihasilkan ini berjaya mengumpul faktor penting yang perlu diambil kira dalam pembangunan SPP.
