El artículo trata del manejo de la diversidad en los Libros de Texto Gratuitos publicados por la Secretaría de Educación Pública de 2012 a 2015. A partir del análisis iconográfico de un corpus de 522 representaciones visuales de indígenas, se investiga la permanencia de estereotipos y marcadores de racismo en los manuales escolares.
Discursive strategies of HuicHoles craftsmen WitHin a tourist frameWork. The sale of Huichol/Wixárika craftwork to tourists has rapidly increased in the last decades. Now it appears to be one of the main tourist attractions in Western Mexico. This paper explains how Huichol craftsmen and artists respond to the tourist gaze in a strategic way, to accomplish economic, but also political goals. Based on fieldwork and the analysis of in-depth interviews with Huichol artists, it is examined how they continuously create and recreate their culture in dialogue with other social groups.
Esta investigación propone analizar cómo el arte mural contemporáneo mexicano aborda temáticas de sostenibilidad ambiental, política y social, y de qué forma los artistas usan estrategias transmedia para ejercer la ciudadanía. Metodológicamente, se delineó una propuesta de Análisis Crítico del Discurso (ACD) que se enlaza con la etnografía digital. El corpus está formado por obras murales realizadas por 33 de los artistas más destacados en México actualmente que abordan temáticas de sostenibilidad y que divulgan sus murales en varios medios digitales. En un primer momento, se aborda la cuestión de la sostenibilidad ambiental, política y social, y se reflexiona sobre la importancia de la ciudadanía para los artistas. A continuación, se analiza el uso estratégico de la transmedialidad, destacando siete funciones transmedia que usan los artistas para fomentar la interactividad y el dialogo. Esto nos lleva a reflexionar sobre la imbricación de lo local y lo global en el ejercicio de la ciudadanía.
Este artículo trata del uso de la imagen wixárika por los jóvenes grafiteros y muralistas contemporáneos de la ciudad de Guadalajara. Con base en entrevistas realizadas a artistas urbanos tapatíos, se analiza la integración del tema de la pluriculturalidad en sus obras. Se presenta de qué forma vinculan lo artístico y lo político para generar un debate entre ciudadanos.
