Dados sobre a relação parasito/hospedeiro entre esta espécie e Gal/us gal/us (L.) resumem-se nas observações de F ACeINI (1982) que constatou a presença de todos os estádios do ciclo biológico no interior de cálamos parasitados e teceu comentários sobre as alterações patológicas resultantes do parasitismo.
MATERIAL E MÉTODOSOs ácaros foram coletados das remiges primárias e secundárias das asas de G. gallus de quatro regiões do território nacional: Teófilo Otoni, MG (20 aves), Porto Velho, RO (10 aves), Macaé e Itaguaí, RJ (20 aves em cada município) . As aves eram criadas em condições rústicas em ambiente peridomiciliar. De cada asa foram retiradas duas penas primárias e duas secundárias de modo a não comprometer o estado de higidez das aves.
