La clasificación de los géneros textuales en los ámbitos especializados no es siempre tarea fácil. Esta misma problemática la encontramos en los géneros del ámbito de Información para pacientes, donde la relativa novedad, en el ámbito español, de su utilización hace que no existan clasificaciones demasiado sistemáticas. En el presente artículo, pues, se intenta, clasificar los géneros de información para pacientes tomando como variable fundamental el uso. Son muchos los estudios teóricos que se han realizado al respecto (Montalt, 2007; García Izquierdo, 2009), por lo que se intentará aportar una visión práctica de los géneros de información para pacientes más utilizados en el campo de la traducción.
