Purpose: To illuminate nurses' experiences, concerns (if any), attitudes and beliefs in the context of PST.Background: One of the most ethically challenging situations for nurses who work with dying people is the practice of PST, yet the reasons for this tension are not fully understood. Methods: The Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Index, Web of Science, PsychINFO, Google Scholar, and Medline were searched for studies related to nurses and PST. A comprehensive review and critical analysis of the relevant literature was conducted, guided by relational ethics and the John Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice model and guidelines.
