<p>Sugarcane is proved to absorb more Si than any other nutrient from soil; therefore continuous cropping of the plant at the same soil would bring consequences of more Si and organic matter depletion. Silicon (Si) is considered a beneficial nutrient for sugarcane production. Field study was carried out in 2013-2014 at Kempleng village; Purwoasri sub district; Kediri district; East Java. The objective was to find out the effect of frequency and concentration of Si liquid fertilizer on Si and N absorptions, stem diameter and length, yield and commercial cane sugar (CCS) of sugarcane var PSBM 901. Split plot design with three replicates was employed to arrange the treatments. As main plots were frequency of spraying (one time, two times, three times, and four times with interval of 20 days started at 30 days after planting), while as sub plots were concentration of Si fertilizer (0, 15% Si, 30% Si). Results showed that interaction between frequency and concentration of Si affected on all parameters observed. Spraying of sugarcane four times with 30% Si gave highest value of cane yield, rendement, and sugar yield, i.e. 184.16 tons/ha and 8.36%, 15.37 ton/ha respectively.</p>

The best treatment of the results was combination of biofertilizer and C. juncea with 100% rate of recommended fertilizer of NPK gave the highest of N uptake and length of stalk.
Kata kunci: pupuk majemuk, tembakau Virginia, produksi, indeks mutu, indeks tanaman ABSTRACT Tobacco Generally farmers in Lombok apply single fertilizer of ZA or Urea (as a source of N), and SP36 (as source of P), without combining with K and Mg fertilizers. The fertilizers are added more than twice with unappropriates doses. Application of compound fertilizer might increase growth, yield and quality of Virginia fc tobacco at Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province, because the fertilizer consists of NPK macro nutrients which have important role for tobacco. The experiment was carried out at Kopang Rembiga village, Kopang District in 2014. The objective to was identify the effect of NPKMg compound fertilizer on growth, yield and quality of Virginia tobacco. Split Plot Design with three replicates was used to arrange treatments. Three varieties of Virginia tobacco (Coker 176, Coker 319 and NC 297) were set as main plots, and three rates of NPKMg fertilizer (60, 80 and 100 kg N/ha) were arranged as sub plots. Results showed that increasing of NPKMg fertilizer up to 100 kg N/ha increased growth, yield and quality of three varieties of Virginia tobacco. Addition of 100 kg N/ha NPKMg (100 kg N+ 60 kg P2O5 + 133 kg K2O + 13.34 kg MgO per hectare) gave the highest values of grade index and crop index of three varieties, thus the fertilizer could be recommended for Virginia tobacco in Lombok. Unsur N yaitu unsur yang paling penting dalam mempengaruhi produksi dan mutu tembakau (MAR...
The extension of the sugarcane cropping area in Indonesia is directed to saline soil, yet there is still limited information about the effect of salt stress on commercial varieties of sugarcane. A pot study was conducted at the Indonesian Sweetener and Fiber Crops Research Institute greenhouse in 2019. The objective was to investigate salinity influences on three varieties: sugarcane growth, soil nutrient content, and leaves. Treatments included three commercial sugarcane varieties (PS 881, PSJK 922, and BL) with five different watering salt concentrations (0, 2000, 4000, 6000, and 8000 ppm of NaCl solution added). Results showed that saline stress decreased the organic and available K of soil. Increasing NaCl concentration also reduced the content of N, K, and ratio K/Na of sugarcane leaves. The stalk diameter of sugarcane was also decreased under saline stress. Among the three tested sugarcane varieties, BL was the most susceptible to saline stress in relation to the most reduction in stalk diameter and ratio K/Na.
The role of organic fertilizer is essential as an ameliorant of soil for tobacco cultivation. This study aimed to determine the effect of organic fertilizer types and N fertilizer on soil chemical characteristics, yield, and quality of tobacco. The study was carried out in the field experimental station, located in Glapansari village of Temanggung in 2017. The research was arranged in a split-plot design with two factors and three replications. The first factor as the main plot is two organic fertilizer types (vermicompost and manure). The second factor as the subplot is N fertilizer consisting of three levels (90, 120, and 150 kg N ha−1). The result showed that the effect of vermicompost and manure was not significantly different on soil chemicals, except on soil C content. At the same level of N rate, vermicompost gave a higher tobacco yield than manure fertilizer. Vermicompost with the lowest N level (90 kg kg N ha−1) produced a high tobacco crop index (crop value index). Vermicompost can reduce inorganic N fertilizer input and could be used as an ameliorant of tobacco dryland.
Madura tobacco Prancak N1 is a new superior variety with higher quality but lower nicotine content than Prancak 95 tobacco variety. The rate and form of fertilizer for the new variety has not yet been defined so that farmers have to use adding nitrogen fertilizer their tobacco with no phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. The objective of the research was to determine effect of NPK and KNO3 fertilizers on yield and quality of Madura tobacco var. Prancak N1. The research was carried out at Cen-lecen village, Pakong Sub District of Pamekasan District, Madura. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with three replication of each plot. Treatments consisted of 9 packs of fertilization with NPK compound fertilizer (8-15-19), and KNO3 (13-0-45) and those were compared with 1 packed of recommended using single fertilizer of 40 kg N-ZA + 36 kg P2O5-SP36 + 25 kg K2O-ZK + 5 ton organic manure per hectare. Results showed that addition of compound fertilizers NPK plus KNO3 increased absorption of macro nutrients NPK, yield and quality of madura tobacco Prancak N1 variety. Package fertilizers NPK plus KNO3 with the rate of 40 kg N + 36 kg P2O5 + 61 K2O per hectare was suggested for madura tobacco Prancak N1 variety to produce high yield (846 kg/ha), grade index value (87.4), and crop index value (73.9).
