The results showed that six varieties of tobacco studied have varying morphology. Varieties Rejeb charcoal has the highest value on plant height, leaf number, and leaf length, so that could support the productivity of the plant. Stomata type of Rejeb Arang is Amphibraci-parasitic, Rejeb Kereb and Rejeb Jae are Diasitic, Gagang Sidi and Gadang Ijo are Anisositic; Gagang Jembrak is Laerositik. The highest chlorophyll content was in Rejeb Arang varieties (34.85 units).</em></p>
Sugarcane development in Indonesia has been done primarily on dry lands. Therefore developing varieties more suitable to dry-agro-ecological conditions is being attempted as it is easily applicable and economically feasible. This study aimed at assessing the yield of 18 potential sugarcane clones, resulting from crosses with parents which have high productivity. This study used Cenning variety as a control. The research was conducted at Karangploso experimental garden Malang, from October 2019 to September 2020. The research used a randomized block design with four replications. The experimental plot was designed with five rows (5 m length) and rows distance at 110 cm. The evaluation was carried out on the growth and production component. The results showed that genotypes affected the performances of growth and yield characters. All of the clones showed good performances in growth. Clones MLG 18/21/14, MLG 18/42/15 and MLG 18/41/5 had productivity 21.08-34.86 (t/ha) and sucrose content 21.79-38.44 (%) higher than control. The three clones select as promising clones for sugarcane development in dry-agro-ecological land with higher productivity yields.
<p>Karakterisasi morfologi tanaman tebu (<em>Saccharum officinarum)</em> sangat diperlukan sebagai pendukung perakitan varietas unggul melalui identifikasi sumber plasma nutfah yang ada. <p>The local Madura maize variety planted on drought stress area suffered retarded plant growth and reduced grain yield. Research was conducted to alleviate the stress on crop plants, to survive under drought condition. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of MVA and ALA on the growth of Guluk-guluk local maize variety planted under difference drought stresess. The experiment was conducted using split-split plot design with three factors in six replications. The first factor was variation of MVA application, i.e., without inoculation (M0) and with inoculation of mycorrhiza (M1). The second factor was ALA treatment which consisted of 3 levels, namely 0% (P0), 0.05% (P1) and 0.1% (P2). Third factor was plant watering intensity, i.e., watered once every 2 days (K0), watered once every 4 days (K1) and watered once every 6 days (K2) reaching field capacity, respectively. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results suggested that MVA and ALA treatments gave significant effects in increasing the percentage of mycorrhiza infection, total leaf P content, total chlorophyll content, plant height, fresh and dry weight of shoot and root and shoot/root ratio. It showed a significant effect in decreasing ABA content in maize plant subjected to drought stress. The ABA content was 1.7 ppm in plants watered once every 2 days, where control plant had ABA content of 5.8 ppm. The best treatment was found on plants treated with mycorrhiza inoculation and 0.05% ALA and watered once every 4 days.</p>
As one of the most important crops in Indonesia, sugarcane productivity is currently still hampered by Sugarcane Streak Mosaic Virus (SCSMV), with the intensity of leaf damage reach 60% . The symptoms of this disease are the occurrence of irregular pattern between light green to pale in sugarcane leaves. The information about SCSMV in plant anatomy and physiology was still lacking. Therefore the objective of this studies was to determine the effect of SCSMV infection to morphological, anatomical and physiological characters of sugarcane leaves. The research was performed on 30 sugarcane clones by using a randomized block design with three replications. The results showed that there was change in the morphology of leaves, but leaf color did change. The decrease in the ratio of chlorophyll a / b leaves 65% higher in the resistant clones, i.e. clones PS 06 103 and PS 06 199. The number of stomata also decreased in clones by SCSMV.
