BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE:A major concern during carotid artery stent placement is the potential for cerebral embolism. Diminishing the number of device manipulations across the lesion might reduce procedural stroke risk. For this purpose, we report our initial experience with carotid stent placement without the use of either balloon angioplasty or distal protection devices.
Endovascular placement of a bifurcated stent-graft appears to be technically feasible, effective, and safe in the management of aortoiliac occlusive disease.
Intimal flap dehiscence associated with an endovascular procedure in the management of aortic dissection is an uncommon complication. Early detection and prompt surgical intervention of such a complication could save the patient's life. Endovascular procedures are unlikely to resolve the hemodynamic problem caused by a dehisced, distally migrated, collapsed intima.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
