In the present communication, we resurrect E. khandallensis and synonymize E. panchganiensis under it owing to the overlap of distinguishing characters, as inferred from literature and first hand observations. We further provide an amended description of E. khandallensis along with critical notes on its taxonomy and distribution.
Lepidagathis dalzellianasp. nov., (Acanthaceae: Barlerieae), is described from Maharashtra, India. The new species is closely allied to Lepidagathis clavataDalzell. in appearance, but differs by long lanceolate, hairy bracts, and spatulate, oblanceolate to ovate-lanceolate glabrous leaves. Colored photographs and notes are provided to facilitate its distinction from closely allied species. In addition, we have designated the lectotype for the name Lepidagathis prostrata Dalzell.
The genus Vateria L. (Dipterocarpaceae) with its three species namely, V. indica, V. copallifera and V. macrocarpa are distributed from India to Sri Lanka. The genus so far has not been screened for its cytological characters. In the present investigation, the mitotic chromosome number of 2n=22 and basic karyomorphology of V. indica were reported for the first time.
