Surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome relieves symptoms significantly better than splinting. Further research is needed to discover whether this conclusion applies to people with mild symptoms and whether surgical treatment is better than steroid injection.
Routine carotid patch angioplasty was associated with promising reductions in the risks of ipsilateral stroke and death, but the results should be interpreted cautiously because of the small number of outcome events, significant losses to follow-up, and poor trial methodology. Ideally, a large definitive trial should be performed. There is insufficient evidence to support the preferential use of one particular type of patch versus another.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
