ResumoEste artigo consiste em recorte de um estudo de mestrado e busca analisar compreensões de Professores de Matemática dos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental sobre situações envolvendo o uso da média aritmética. Participaram do estudo 14 professores dos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental de escolas localizadas em diferentes municípios do Estado de Pernambuco. Eles responderam um questionário elaborado no Google formulários, com questões envolvendo as propriedades da média bem como a representação gráfica desse conceito. Os resultados evidenciam que a grande maioria dos participantes compreendem o conceito de média pela sua definição de média simples. Além disso, muitos professores não reconhecem as propriedades da média e têm dificuldades em interpretá-las em gráficos estatísticos. Um erro comum apresentado por um quantitativo considerável de professores, foi eles reconhecerem a média a partir dos resultados que mais se repetem, destacando a ideia de moda. Faz-se necessário um trabalho mais sistemático sobre as propriedade do conceito de média aritmética em processos de formação inicial e continuada de professores dos anos finais.
Letramento Probabilístico relaciona-se com a habilidade de ler, interpretar e construir sentidos por meio dos conceitos da Probabilidade, sendo constituída não somente por elementos cognitivos, mas por crenças e atitudes, a postura crítica e reflexiva. Este artigo discute resultados de um estudo que buscou analisar compreensões de professores dos anos finais do Ensino Fundamental sobre o Letramento Probabilístico e como seria possível trabalhar nessa perspectiva em sala de aula. Participaram do estudo cinco professores com os quais realizou-se seis encontros de formação que foram filmados, transcritos e analisados. Neste artigo, aborda-se a discussão referente ao quarto encontro, em que se discutiu exemplos de contextos que puderam ser associados com o Letramento Probabilístico. Os professores concluíram que é possível abordar o Letramento Probabilístico em situações de ensino, mas que seria necessário desenvolver uma compreensão melhor dos conceitos probabilísticos em articulação com momentos de discussão e de planejamento com colegas de profissão.
