RESUMO-O levantamento de Arecaceae no litoral piauiense evidenciou seis espécies, das quais cinco são nativas (Astrocaryum vulgare Mart., Copernicia prunifera (Mill.) H.E.Moore, Euterpe oleracea Mart., Mauritia fl exuosa L.f. e Orbignya martiana Barb.Rodr.) e uma subespontânea (Elaeis guineensis N. J. Jacquin). Copernicia prunifera e Orbignya martiniana são as únicas espécies endêmicas. As espécies mais frequentes foram C. prunifera, A. vulgare e M. fl exuosa. C. prunifera é a mais utilizada pela comunidade local, explorada principalmente devido ao pó cerífero que produz, garantindo a renda de muitas famílias do Município de Ilha Grande. Astrocaryum vulgare, Elaeis guineensis e Euterpe oleracea são registros novos para o Estado do Piauí. Chave para identifi cação dos táxons, descrições e informações sobre as potencialidades de uso das espécies são apresentados. The survey of Arecaceae in Piauí coast showed six species, fi ve of which are native (Astrocaryum vulgare Mart., Copernicia prunifera (Mill.) H.E.Moore, Euterpe oleracea Mart., Mauritia fl exuosa L.f. e Orbignya martiana Barb.Rodr.) and one subspontaneo (Elaeis guineensis N. J. Jacquin). Copernicia prunifera and Orbignya martiniana are endemic species. The most frequent species were C. prunifera, A. vulgare and M. fl exuosa. C. prunifera is the most used by the local community, explored mainly due to cerifi co powder that produces, guaranteeing the income of many families in Ilha Grande Municipality. Astrocaryum vulgare, Elaeis guineensis, Euterpe oleracea are new records for the state of Piauí. Key to identifying the taxa, descriptions and information about the use potential of the species are presented.
