The present study evaluates the economic viability of the application of solar energy for electric power generation via the use of photovoltaic systems in a residential consumption unit in the city of Curitiba. Since the energy from the sun is abundant, clean, renewable and has the potential to compete in productivity and profitability, the evaluation of the applicability of these systems in homes, not only in industrial parks, is of great interest. A household with the determined consumption profile was chosen for this case study through simulations with the HomerPro software. After analyzing the data, the photovoltaic potential of the State of Paraná was estimated to investigate the possibility of photovoltaic generation growth in the state energy matrix and its consequences.
This article presents the strategy of the use of the green job as a way of providing a sustainable development to the planet Earth. In agreement with the Program of the United Nations for the Environment, (PNUMA, 2011), the green job is the work in the agriculture, manufacture, research and development, administration, and service activities that contribute substantially to preserve or to recover the environmental quality. Specifically, but no exclusively, that includes works that help to protect ecosystems (USP, 2012) and biodiversity (E O WILSON BIODIVERSITY FOUNDATION, 2012), to reduce the consumption of energy, materials and water through strategies of high efficiency, decarbonizing the economy and minimizing or avoiding the generation of all the garbage forms and pollution (UNEP, 2008). The article investigates which are the sectors of the green economy in Brazil and in the world. There are also suggested public politics that seek to promote or to enlarge the offers of green jobs in Brazil. Finally, a scenery showing the economical, social and environmental advantages in case strategies of creation of green jobs were used in some sectors of the Brazilian economy, is provided.
HIGHLIGHTS • This paper presents a mathematical representation by Regression Analysis that enables the projection of electricity consumption according to the built area and population in Higher Education Institutions (HEI).
Abstract. Now due to the lack of rains in Brazil, the efficient use of the electric power became an important subject. There are federal norms that regulate the production and commercialization of products that are energetically efficient. Besides the regulations, several operational and maintenance methods exist to increase the efficiency of the use of the energy. These methods can reduce the electric power losses in these equipments and to optimize the consumption. Another viable alternative for the reduction of the consumption of energy is the use of equipments energetically efficient. Using the efficient equipments, operating these same equipments correctly and promoting the maintenances in agreement with the needs, a great amount of energy can be saved. The consumers that save energy will also be reducing the amount of tributes to be paid in their electric power bills. This article makes a study on old buildings in Brazil and it analyzes through a case study, as we could save with the costs of energy of these buildings.
