Debater o texto – Desafios e Perspectivas para a América Latina do Século XXI - de um companheiro e intelectual como Marcelo Carcanholo é, ao mesmo tempo, prazeroso e desafiador. Prazeroso por se tratar, na nova geração de intelectuais, de um dos quadros mais bem preparados no tema da crítica da economia política, o que abarca seus estudos e a socialização dos mesmos tanto com os estudantes e colegas de trabalho, quanto com os militantes sociais latino-americanos. Desafiador por seus textos nos instigarem a ir além daquilo que está exposto, na procura de novos e complexos processos de investigação individual-coletiva.
Resumo Este artigo apresenta alguns aportes iniciais sobre o (re)pensar a centralidade da questão agrária nas histórias e lutas da América Latina passado e presente, a partir do referencial marxiano e marxista. Serão trabalhados três momentos, a saber: 1) Abya Yala x América Latina; 2) América Latina e Estado capitalista dependente; 3) América Latina e as diversas fases da ideologia do desenvolvimento. O objetivo principal é reforçar como a questão agrária sempre esteve no centro da função social que cumpre América Latina e Caribe na dinâmica geral de produção e reprodução do capital, mesmo em tempos de discussões contemporâneas sobre os problemas gerais das paisagens periféricas do século XXI. A pergunta principal do artigo é: se América Latina é uma construção territorial demarcada pela invasão colonial no século XVI, qual a função da questão agrária a partir das lógicas inerentes à dita dinâmica mercantil, ao longo de mais de cinco séculos?
Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar os elementos basilares para entender a arte mural mexicana, passada e presente, como parte integrante do pensamento crítico latino-americano e caribenho do século XX e os impactos de seus ensinamentos para os sujeitos políticos de diversas áreas ao longo da luta de classes do século XXI. O faz a partir de uma revisão histórico-crítica bibliográfica tanto do muralismo como da Teoria Marxista da Dependência (TMD). Coloca em diálogo dois conhecimentos: a arte política engajada do muralismo mexicano e a práxis militante revolucionária da TMD. Entende o debate da arte política muralista oriundo da escola mexicana como uma fecunda referência de marxismo latino-americano, a partir da centralidade que deu à história das resistências e revoluções como contrapontos à história hegemônica tanto na invasão colonial como em todo período seguinte. Toma como pergunta norteadora: o que o muralismo mexicano tem a nos ensinar no século XXI?
