RESUMO: Objetivo: conhecer a atenção prestada às mulheres durante o pré-natal de baixo risco. Método: estudo qualitativo, realizado com oito puérperas internadas em uma unidade obstétrica, no período de outubro a novembro de 2013. A pesquisa foi aprovada por Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa, sob o parecer 372.047. A coleta dos dados ocorreu por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas, as quais foram analisadas de acordo com a proposta operativa e pesquisa nos cartões de gestante. Resultados: os serviços demonstraram algumas fragilidades com atendimento, por vezes, inadequado e de forma tecnicista. Foram identificadas dificuldades de acesso nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde impedindo, assim, a captação precoce das gestantes. Conclusão: há uma lacuna a ser preenchida por parte dos serviços de saúde, sendo necessária a realização de atividades de capacitação aos profissionais e promoção de atividades educativas. Method: a qualitative study, developed with eight women hospitalized in an obstetric unit, from october to november 2013. This study was approved by Research Ethical Committee, under the number 372.047. Data collection occurred through semistructured interviews analyzed under the operative proposal and research in the maternity cards. Results: services showed some treatment weaknesses, such as inappropriate and technicist care. Access difficulties at the Basic Health Unit were identified, what interfered on early identification of pregnant women. Conclusion: there is a gap to be filled by the health services, requiring professional training and promotion of educational actions.
