Transport companies, whose activities have a significant impact on the economy of the whole of Europe, constantly face new market challenges. The high demand for transport services, even in the time of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the introduction of new regulations by the European Union authorities mean that these enterprises have to increase their efforts on competitive foreign markets. Telematics systems play a crucial role in this battle as they enable the acquisition and processing of data characterizing processes in road transport. In this article, the author undertakes the issue of logistic indicators in theoretical frames, as well as their classification and characteristics as the main source of information about processes. This is followed by the analysis of data obtained from a transport company using a telematics system to manage transport processes in the context of ensuring the quality of services. The aim of the study is to demonstrate the significance of selected logistics indicators in terms of improving the quality of transport services. Statistical analysis is used to study the relationships and impact of individual measures in 2019-2020 as a forecasting tool. The result of the research is finding an appropriate link between the measures and using this knowledge as an opportunity to improve the quality of services.
The aim of this article is to present the disruptions of the flow of information in business management. In the first part of the article the reasons of the disruptions of the flow of information are discussed. In the second part of the article the barriers to the flow of information are shown. Information has always been the bargaining power in the efforts of entrepreneurs to best meet the needs of the society. Proper information management is closely linked to the decision-making process in the enterprise. The article underlines the role of information in the whole process of business management and also shows how different disruptions can occur in the flow of the information process.
Development of modern information technology and unlimited access to increasingly advanced solutions and mobile tools drives changes in consumer behaviours. Changes have been observed in the traditional consumption model, which has been transformed into cooperation and sharing, with boundaries between consumers and goods manufacturers fading away. The phenomenon of sharing goods is burgeoning with the increasingly popular trend termed sharing economy. The aim of this study is to discuss the role played by involvement of rural inhabitants who follow global trends in the contemporary economy. Furthermore, the survey presented in the study reveals the state of knowledge and awareness of the sharing economy and potential benefits in the form of development of the economy in rural areas.
Streszczenie: Ciągłe doskonalenie technologii informacyjnych odzwierciedla kierunki rozwoju współczesnej gospodarki. Otoczenie takie stwarza przedsiębiorstwom wielkie możliwości podążania za globalnym nurtem i dostosowywania swoich działań do wymagań klientów. Znaczącą rolę w procesach gospodarczych i w samych łańcuchach dostaw odgrywają systemy informacyjne, istotnie ułatwiające pozyskiwanie i przetwarzanie informacji na potrzeby zwiększania efektywności przedsiębiorstw.
Ensuring transport safety is one of the key areas of transport companies’ operations. Management and organization processes not only in the intermodal transport are associated with decision-making in regard to adequate load securing, which is exposed to the inertia forces resulting from the movement of transport means. Regardless, the responsibility of individual entities in the process and the applicable insurance, the basic aspect to ensure transport safety is the correct securing of the cargo. In the article, the authors present elements of calculation models for different methods of securing cargo. Calculations were performed for the selected type of load on the specific semi-trailer meeting the requirements of the XL Code adapted for intermodal transport. The analysis of safety management in transport in the aspect of decision-making about the method of securing the cargo was also made.
Nowadays big data solutions are widely applied in different types of organizations. Such solutions bring multiple advantages in business activity of contemporary enterprises and especially in logistics area. The aim of the paper is to present the notion of big data solutions and advantages resulting from its application in different areas of logistics such as supply chain or inventory optimization. The paper also presents review of selected practical examples and case studies regarding big data application in logistics area.
SummaryThe economic development of the country depends on economic development of the regions, which translates into increased pressure on companies from SME sector to raise its economic performance. Focusing on the industry, which dominates in the area, provides the opportunity to invest in it, what can result in improvement of its efficiency. The supporting solution of the local/regional development is the creation of clusters, which in the logistics solutions context provide a strong and organized group, forming a logistic supply chain. This paper presents a proposition for a cluster modelling in logistics perspective and in terms of regional management, also constituting promotion of local branches and the development of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in both production and logistics, which are instruments in creation process of the national economy.
The article presents the concept of modern simulation systems applicable in the analysis of the logistics chain configuration. The main goal of the article is to present advanced possibilities of using various methods of simulation of a logistic system, or to determine the appropriateness of introducing changes in the configuration of a logistics chain or the assessment of already prepared solutions for given logistics processes. The article contains a description of information technologies that can be used in simulation, including specialized simulation programs, spreadsheets, languages and simulation interfaces etc. The article presents the basic issues related to the creation of a logistics project simulation, as well as the possibilities of the FlexSim 3D Simulation software, which easily allows to map complex logistic processes. The simulation, including the data generated during its implementation on individual logistic processes, allows the selection of the most advantageous and optimization of the solutions used so far in a given process. The article presents an example of simulation of logistics issues in the production process and examples are presented to explain the cognitive appeal of this method based on the use of computer technology and FlexSim 3D Simulation software.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
