Biodiversitas 20: 2943-2948. Cancer becomes one of the uncontagious diseases that occupy the top position in the cause of human death under 70 years in the world. Breast cancer is the most widely experienced cancer by women. The aim of this study was to obtain cytotoxic activity essential oil of Curcuma aeruginosa and Curcuma zanthorrhiza as antiproliferative substance of cancer cells and to analyze volatile profile of C. aeruginosa and C. zanthorrhiza essential oils. The essential oils were obtained from rhizomes of C. aeruginosa and C. zanthorrhiza by using hydrodistillation method. Volatile compositions of essential oils were analyzed using gas chromatography and mass spectrophotometry (GC/MS). The cytotoxic activities of the essential oil samples were evaluated using brine shrimp lethality test and against MCF-7 (Michigan Cancer Foundation-7) and Vero cells. The essential oils of C. aeruginosa, and C. zanthorrhiza showed cytotoxic activities to brine shrimp and MCF-7. Cytotoxic activity presented in essential oil from C. aeruginosa and C. zanthorrhiza showed lower activity compared with Doxorubicin. The major compounds of C. aeruginosa were tropolone (18.1%), eucalyptol (17.9%), and curcumol (5.7%), whereas C. zanthorrhiza were xanthorrhizol (26.8%), b-curcumene (17.0%), ar-curcumene (15.0%), and germacrone (5.4%).

Given the intensified number of online learning activities and having inadequate knowledge to identify the details of how it was organized within increased students’ language learning ability; this study focused on identifying the students’ perceptions of learning in two different situations. This study investigated how students perceived working in a new learning mode (online learning activity) compared to the traditional or face-to-face learning mode (offline learning activity) in regards to the learning frameworks, including the depth and comprehensiveness of learning, appropriate length for learning, comfortability of learning, and flexibility of learning. Ten students were selected to be the participants of the current study; all of whom were sixth and eighth semester students at the Department of English Language Education of Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. They were served by several questions related to their experiences working on two different learning modes. The findings revealed that working in offline learning mode was still the common preference among the students and only a few of them preferred online learning. Even more interesting was the finding of one or two students who perceived no differences between participating in offline and online class learning activities. In addition, the findings also indicated that interaction between the course instructors and students still becomes a prominent element on the students’ satisfaction and comfort of learning. The students also suggested that the keys to their satisfactory learning experiences are access to learning materials and to their class instructors. To conclude, this study also provides new insights on what matters the most to the students’ learning experiences with respect to the current online learning trend.

Home and the residential environment are one of the risk factors for stunting. The level of knowledge determines residents' behavior, and knowledge is influenced by the exposure to information that a person receives. The purpose of community service activities is counseling about healthy homes and healthy behavior to Baduta mothers (children under two years) in the stunting locus, Langensari village, Pandeglang district. Extension activities were carried out on September 20, 2019, in Langensari village, Saketi District, Pandeglang Regency. Before the activity was carried out, the team carried out advocacy and licensing at the Saketi District Health Center and the Langensari Village Head. The method used in this activity is advocacy and socialization of activities and activities using extension media using posters and brochures. The target of the counseling is the Baduta mother. Participants will be assessed whether there is increased knowledge about healthy homes and healthy behavior before and after counseling (pre-post-test). The result of the educational activity was that the extension participants consisted of 39 Baduta mothers. The difference in the mean score of the pre-post-test was 0.821, and the extension activities could increase the participants' knowledge before and after counseling (p = 0.018).

Coronavirus varian baru (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2/SARS-COV2) mulai muncul di dunia dan menyebar di Indonesia pada awal tahun 2020 dan penyakitnya lebih dikenal dengan nama Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19). Jumlah kasus yang tinggi menyebabkan pemerintah mengambil kebijakan penerapan protokol kesehatan 3M (memakai masker, menjaga jarak dan mencuci tangan). Penggunaan hand sanitizer menjadi alternatif pilihan untuk menjaga higienitas dan kebersihan pribadi. Hand sanitizer komersial yang beredar di pasaran sebagian besar mengandung alkohol karena kemampuannya membunuh mikroorganisme patogen. Sementara itu, banyak bahan alami yang memiliki sifat antiseptik dan dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pembuatan hand sanitizer. Sasaran dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah siswa Sekolah Dasar (SD). Diharapkan dengan adanya pelatihan ini, siswa SD dapat mengembangkan keterampilan entrepreneurship dan membantu dalam mengolah bahan-bahan yang ada disekitar lingkungan menjadi lebih berguna, bahkan bernilai jual. Hal ini membuka peluang untuk memproduksi hand sanitizer alternatif dalam skala kecil atau skala rumah tangga. Maka dari itu diperlukan pelatihan pembuatan hand sanitizer dari bahan alami ini. Dalam pelaksanaannya, program pengabdian pada masyarakat ini dilakukan dengan beberapa tahapan, yaitu tahap persiapan, pelatihan secara daring dan praktek secara luring. Dalam pelatihan tersebut terdapat beberapa hasil positif diantaranya produk hand sanitizer alami yang dilengkapi dengan label kemasan dan label protokol kesehatan pada kotak tools kit serta pemahaman siswa mengenai cara pembuatan hand sanitizer alami.

Lemongrass traditionally can be used as a mixture of water bath for rheumatic patients, antiseptic medicine, headache reducer, unbend the leech bite and overcome insect bite, but, the bioactivity potential of citronella lemongrass still remains unknown. The content of citronella lemongrass is known to have secondary metabolites such as flavanoid, phenolic, and terpenoid. The aim of this study is to determine the LC50 value (Lethality Concentration 50) in the root, stem, and leaves part of citronella lemongrass. Citronella lemongrass is extracted with maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. Rendement value of leaf extract is greater than the value of stem and root extract, which is equal to 8.69% for stem extract, 3.73% for root extract and 9.70% for leaves extract. A toxicity test was performed by using the BSLT method, shrimp larvae were inserted into the test solution with each different solution concentration. LC50  values were obtained based on the calculation of percent mortality of shrimp larvae by using probit analysis. LC50 ethanol extract 96% of citronella lemongrass leaf is 67.841 μg/ml, citronella lemongrass stem is 31.604 μg/ml and citronella lemongrass root is 10.489 μg/ml. LC50 value shows that ethanol extract 96% of root, stem, and leaf of citronella lemongrass have no bioactivity potential due to the value of LC50 is greater than 1000 μg/ml.
