Learning through music is one of music education paradigm, but limited research articles talk about this concept in the context of singing keroncong. Combining content analysis and interview, this article tries to shed light on the values behind singing keroncong. Several famous keroncong songs like Bengawan Solo, Keroncong Tanah Airku, and Pahlawan Merdeka sang by legend artist including Gesang, Toto Salmon, Ismail Marzuki, Waljinah, Sundari Sukoco and Tuti Trisedia were selected to be analyzed. Content analysis was focused to understand how singers expressing their interpretation. These findings are compared with interview data about their experience in singing keroncong. Result of this study explain that singing keroncong builds the habit to be tolerance, to be empathy, to be creative, and to control the emotion.
-The purpose of this article is to explore the incubation model for performing arts communities to build entrepreneurship in the creative industry sector. The aim of the exploration of the incubation model is to search for a strategy in building the capacity for increasing the quality of performing arts production, to access the performing arts market, and to create network with stakeholders. We used project-based research method to diagnose, create the incubation model, do its implementation, and evaluate the model. This research involved 15 people with performing arts background; five experts in the fields of dance, music, performing arts, and entrepreneurship; and the researchers as its participants. The project was implemented on May 20-21, 2016 in Bandung. The incubation consisted of discussions, collaborations, and presentations of the community works. The experts discussed their knowledge and experiences regarding of building the business plan, producing contemporary performing arts, and accessing the national and international markets for performing arts and music industry. Participants collaborated to present their concept or/and their production. Fifteen participants came up with eight presentations of business plan, and the three experts with dance, music, and performing arts backgrounds criticized them in terms of the concepts and their production. According to the experts, the problem with their concept and production is that they are still in the safety zone; thus, they need to think out of the box to open their minds, to do more in-depth research, and to have the references in order to increase the quality of their works. Festivals and performances are the forms of their market. This model of incubation benefits the communities to change their world view of performing arts industry. However, this project needs to be followed by a community business plan in creating the production and distributing it in the festivals.
Most of music education students who learn piano in Indonesia play the instrument based on teachers' instructions. Teacher-centered approach is commonly found in the learning process in which materials and strategies are determined by the teachers. Fortunately, such learning model is not found in Adorakids Music as one of music learning centers in Bandung. This is due to learning approach by encouraging students' participation in their learning process. Therefore, this study aims to investigate a student-centered approach employed in Adora Kids Music. A descriptive qualitative was chosen as a research design. Meanwhile, data were collected through several instruments namely: interview, observation, and document analysis. Some stages to analyze the data were done through describing, reducing, triangulation, until presenting the data. The results of this study refer that during the learning process, the teacher used student-centered approach through implementing some strategies: discovery learning, exploration, collaboration, and self-evaluation. To develop learning material, the teacher consider students' need and interests so that all components in learning process including learning, method, media and model were also made appropriately with the students' need. Glundeng is a traditional art originating from Bondowoso Regency, East Java. The local people call it wood Gamelan because at first glance the shape of the instrument is almost like Javanese Gamelan Ageng. Glundeng staging in the totta'an dhereh tradition is held by the local community as a form of gratitude to God Almighty for the abundance of fortune given to the farmers. The purpose of this research is to find out how the form of the Glundeng Gamelan performance in the totta'an dhereh tradition in Bondowoso. The research paradigm uses a qualitative, descriptive analysis method. Data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results showed that Glundeng's performance was a form of folk art performance as a means of entertainment. Glundeng music performances are held routinely once a year in November. In presenting Glundeng music there are no special rituals or readings when going to play Glundeng. The repertoire of songs presented in the Glundeng music performance is Madura regional songs such as Tanduk Majeng, pajjar laggu, olle ollang, gei' bintang and other songs. The rhythm (wirama) pattern used in the glundeng gamelan is sedheng and seseg. While the game techniques in gamelan glundeng are balungan melampah, nyaca rangkep, mbalung, kinthilan, and timpalan.
